- WayneAt63044ExplorerMy Lippert slide has 2 motors that can get out of sync and the way to synchronize them is to hold the slide switch in until both sides of the slide are fully closed. These 2 motors are at the top of vertical drive screws mounted on the stationary wall on each side of the slide. The vertical drive screws connect to aluminum rails with teeth on each side of the slideout. It would be easy to count the teeth showing on each side. There is also a controller PC board that flashes codes when queried. Mine is nearly unreachable behind kitchen drawers which must be removed to access it. In the 10 years I've had this trailer it has never gotten out of sync but I always hold the slide switch for a couple of seconds after the slide is all the way closed.
Perhaps your Lance is totally different - MFLNomad IINot being there to know all the details, see the issue, look at adjustment slots etc, I'm only going by my own, which I have adjusted.
A suggestion would be to run slide all the way in, until it fully stops. Look for anything that may be in the way, to not fully open. When fully retracted, check gap outside. Now run it out, listening for anything not normal, and watch closely, each side, for start same time, stop same time.
How do you plan to adjust it? Have you watched any YT videos? I ran mine in part way, to kind of balance the weight, before pushing to adjust. May not be necessary on a lighter slide? Anyway before changing anything, mark where it is right now.
Hope you get it figured out.
Jerry - campermamaExplorer IIOk, another thought since so far Jayco has no answers and haven't heard from Lippert yet.
I'm still thinking it jumped a couple of teeth. It's just the passive side that needs a small adjustment. Do you guys think just adjusting that side would be ok? The teeth wouldn't match on the 2 rails but the slide would be straight. - campermamaExplorer III only moved it once since I noticed the issue, and only retracted it maybe half way then extended it. I think they moved at the same time. There was no noise or binding, moved smoothly.
- ScottGNomadWhen your slide starts to move, do both sides move at the same time or does one end move a little before the other end starts moving? If it's the latter, you probably have a broken shear bolt. Look for a 1/4" bolt going through the shoulder of the gear. If you only see it on one side of the gear, it has sheared. You can get a replacement shear bolt anyplace they sell lawn maint. equip. parts (snow blowers, rototillers, thatchers, etc.)
It's also possible the pinion gear itself is broken but that's much more rare. - campermamaExplorer IIYeah I hear ya. I have contacted Jayco and lippert. I just need to find out now how to adjust that far side rail. I'm pretty sure it skipped a tooth or 2. It only needs to adjust about 1/2" or so.
- MFLNomad IIIt is hard to give exact advice without being there, not wanting to give wrong info. I'm thinking there should be a gear drive on both sides, but likely just one motor.
As you can see, most do not feel comfortable to chime in, saying do this/that, and cause further problems for you. - campermamaExplorer IINothing looks disturbed. The side further from the adjuster is the side that needs to come out slightly to fix this.
I'm guessing the rail needs to be adjusted. The gear motor is on the opposite side of the side that needs adjusting. If I disengage the gear will that also allow the other side to move? Hope this makes sense. - MFLNomad IIOkay, if you understand the adjustment of your system, which likely requires loosening of bolts to adjust, it is possible, that an adjusting bolt was not tightened enough, and when slide stuck to seal, may have changed adjustment. In this case, if you inspect adj bolts, and see an adjuster slot that appears to have moved, going by the marking showing by bolt, you may have found the issue.
It would take quite a force to jump a tooth. The seal would tear or pull out first, if the seal sticking caused the problem. - campermamaExplorer IIThis is a new issue, never had a gap before. No mobile guys in this area.
Still hoping to find out how to tell the difference between skipped teeth or adjustment.
Adjustment isn't hard to do, just don't want to do it till I know its not skipped teeth.
