Small step for camper

We have a scissor step to access the camper that attaches to the threshold (?) or back platform of the camper. There is an attached lip that the edge of the step fits into. We have added cotter pins to keep it from sliding out like it almost did on me once. We will keep it as it is great for loading the dogs and packing/unpacking.

However, we often find a place to stop for lunch and want a quick step up instead of setting up the scissor steps. We used to have a piece of channel iron that held a jack that I stepped on while holding to the ladder to gain access. The jack was moved to the front replacement bumper so now I have no step up. I am looking for one with one or two steps that connects to the back like the scissor steps. Something that can just tuck out of the way while we are traveling so it is available for a quick stop. I have seen them so know they exist.

I am also exploring steps that connect to trailer hitch.

Any ideas? Thank-you and happy trails.

    Brophy makes a hitch step as well but my camper overhang makes that not useable. Might work with a flush to the back of the bed TC, but with an overhang like I have it would be a shin brusier

    Guys-you dont have the Torklift Glowstep Revolution-you have the Torklift Glowstep Stow-N-Go, as do I. Completly different system? While would also solve, replacing existing steps with the Stow-N-Go, she already said keeping originals.

    But it wouldnt be that difficult to adapt over...the ease of use-instant deployment just amazing. IF they could be top tread flush mounted, retain the step down distance. Looks like width of tread might equal landing.

    Exactly what I did as well. The Glo-step revolutions deploy is about 5 seconds and close up just as fast. I still carry a Rubbamaid strp for my wife in the front access with the batteries and FW tank bur rarely use it now.

    Not cheap but very workable.

    What would work is a simple flip over step. I looked thru your blog looking for pictures of your camper and you have bumper, also the required brackets. (scaling and cropping induced color & quality shift)


    It looks as though your landing utilizes the mounts under bumper and would interfere with a flip over so additional brackets would be needed.

    On yours as door swings to ladder probably need to mount on left side-

    This is ours, I moved original flip over brackets a bit further to right side. Just pieces of channel riveted underneath or nut&bolt if can reach.

    Not sure if this helps, but I used ot have a "Giant Ladder" 4-5 step and used that but cumbersome.

    Switched to the Torklift Stor N Go and it works great. easy to lower/open and close, great for the Wally-world grocery shopping etc..

    If towing a trailer, I believe the extra step platform is used and the steps attach to the side step..

    If that is what you're asking for..

    I considered that but it would be one more thing to bring along. Btw, hubby is 6’ and just barely reaches so he uses the small broom handle on rear ones and we undo the front latches from the cab. I have seen th3 two step one that attaches somewhere but can’t think of search words that would nail it down. I will try a google image search.

    Well, I have to keep a step stool in mine to reach the pinned locks that allow the pop-up to go up. It's just one of those two step lightweight, aluminum ones from HD. Works great when we stop to pop in out without putting the scissors down.

    One of the downsides to a TC. I used a stool..to bumper...and in...my younger days.
