- Johno02ExplorerI just put mirror tiles up on the ceiling, mirror side up. All the spy stuff sees is a reflection of itself. Don't want no smart nothing telling what I am doing all over the internet. Just send anyone an email about buying anything, and watch the ads that pop up all over your puter...

Non-smart tv's are getting harder to find. That being said, we have a new Samsung smart tv. We replaced a non-smart tv that I had Ruko for. In my opinion, the Ruko was much easier to use and had much better content to choose from. I'd go non-smart if I could.
What?
Best Buy and Walmart are loaded with non smart TV's
I said they were getting hardER to find. Less than half of new tv's are non-smart tv's, which is a significant drop over just the past couple of years. Hence the word hardER. - CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII sure wish these modern TV's had better sound quality. I don't care if they are Smart or Dumb if you can't hear or understand what is going on what difference does it make ? I'm not sure if they even have a speaker but, if they do it is inside the TV with no holes for the sound to come out. Sucks.
At home I have my TV hooked to my stereo. In my TT I sometimes like to go Dry Camping so I don't want to bring along extra speakers and more power usage. So I'm stuck with the horrible sound quality of the TV.
I wish there was a way to find out the quality of the sound before you purchase but, no one does tests for things like that.
Oh Well, gives me another excuse to turn the TV off and go outside or read a book. - westendExplorer

That upgrade worked good for you but sometimes, it's not about the level of Internet Service provided but about how the wireless signal is handled (interuppted) in the location of the devices.Cobra21 wrote:
Don't buy a smart TV. We have a Vizeo smart tv that is so bad we bought a ROKU Stick for it, now it is "smart".

It's not the television that's the problem, it's the internet connection. We have a Panasonic (smart) TV in the family room of the house. Because of where we live, we have a line-of-site service, which requires a signal be sent from a cell tower.
Our Panasonic TV acted bad sometime, and the DVD/Blue Ray in the camper was really bad.
We took the plunge and beefed up our signal to a 10G which made all the difference in the world. No more pauses, freezes, or time-outs. Works great.
It's not the television, it's the internet service you're using that's causing problems.
For example, I have a Panasonic plasma screen that offers some basic Internet functionality. The signal was dropping, occasionally. The solution was to install a cheap repeater (sometimes called a range extender). The repeater was a one-time purchase for around $20. I don't have to pay any monthly fees and the signal has never dropped after installation. There are different ways to make a Smart TV, smart again. - cbshoestringExplorer II

On a Samsung remote look for a button that says CH LIST. This will give a list of upcoming programs for any channel that's been tuned in. They also have an INFO button which gives program descriptions. Our Sharp TV doesn't have these features.

Add me to the dumb TV smart device plugged in camp- we have the Roku streaming stick with really dumb TV- works fine.
The term smart TV always makes me think of George Carlin bemoaning the stupid programming on TV- he tried turning the brightness control up but it didn't work :)
It is the TV. It has the yahoo format for the smart function which is not to my liking at all. Roku is so complete and easy to follow
it's hard to be satisfied with anything less.
