Just got back last week from my 6th trip with my TC.I was at the semi annual Eastern Division Train Show of the TCA in York Pa.I had a great time out there and this was the second time I stayed on grounds after attending this show for 27 years.I should have done this 10 years ago!What I find amazing is this event gets a lot of campers of all sorts out there but it seems I am the only one with a truck camper.There are regular trailer type campers both old and new and large RVs some as old as 40 years old and a lot of high dollar diesel units.I also work for the state highway dept here in NJ and I cut grass between April and November I'm out on a highway that leads to the Jersey shore where there are many campgrounds and I see hundreds of trailers and RVs but now that I notice things like this I saw maybe 2 TCs going down the road all season.Are TCs just a Midwest and West Coast thing ?I was there for 4 days and everything went great AC sometimes during the day and heat when it got chilly...A view of the other campers...This guy amazes me he drive out from San Diego and sleeps in this for the whole week !Bob T

Usually we're the only truck camper as well, we do see more in the more remote sites. Sometimes I count them when going down the road and it's quite often only in single digits.I remember when I was a kid, everyone had a truck camper.

Guess it all depends on where one is located.Around where I live in SE South Dakota, virtually none found. Oh, you'll see one from time to time as you go up and down I-90 or I-29, but very rare.Then I go out west to Washington state area, and once past Billings, Montana on I-90 they are all over the place.

I hardly ever see any when I travel in the Northeast. Makes me feel special :) Really, so many people stare in amazement at my TC in the CG. Then they shake their heads and say how they couldn't imagine traveling that way. Hey I have hot water, a stove, AC & a furnace, shower and toilet. It's not like I travel in a Conestoga wagon for Pete's sake LOL.Although, when I am laying in bed, looking back towards the door, the interior does kinda look like a gypsy vardo. Or a tinkers wagon.... I utilize every square inch of wall space I can - ha ha.P.S. - Very nice looking rig. What brand and year is your TC? I like it a lot.

I offer to show them the inside but first ask them what do they think we have inside.The few who have inquired are pretty amazed at what they see.I have a feeling that some RVers think that we are in there sitting on a wooden bench, sleeping on a hard floor and eating Spam. :D Uh...NO.We stayed at a very small CG this summer and an older lady walked over from her very nice, small Airstream and we struck up a conversation. Seems that when she was a child she and her family drove 'cross country several times in a truck camper.Of course I offered to help her up the steps and she was very amazed at what the inside looked like. She had no idea how far TCs had come since her experiences.

We've had the same experience. The big exception is Alaska and Canada. Truck Campers rule up there!

TC's are almost a novelty here in NC. I often get stopped by folks who are amazed at the thing.

Well I have traveled the northeast for last 4 1/2 years from Dallas to Syracuse with my TC at least 4 times a year. I have seen only a handful too in my travels. I do get a lot of looks when I go shopping and pull into grocery stores or malls. LOL

During the fall foliage season we have noticed a considerable increase in the amount of TC's that travel around the Mt. Washington Valley of NH. Then again, maybe it's the pregnant lady syndrome. I just know we are glad to be a part of a small close-knit group.

Seems to be more of a western thing. I guess they have more remote camping options. We had one when I was a kid so I always wanted one again. I went to Ca to get mine. About the guy from SD. As a rule most people from Ca are a little weird.;)

If my eyes don't deceive me that is the Coldfoot station! And the truck with the popup could have very well been us (it isn't but it could have been).
