Stabil lift

Has anyone installed a stabil lift on a clamshell style camper. Any issues with the fiberglass?
  • I installed one on my 1988 Bigfoot. I had no issues at all. I had it on for about 10 years and thousands of miles, never had a problem. I recently took it off because I changed my truck from a SRW to a DRW. I haven't decided if I want to modify the lift for the DRW truck.

  • Thanks Wayne, found one on C/L but a little reluctant to attach anything to the wings of my NL. There isn't much there and my 6yr structural warranty is up this year.
  • I see nothing to effect the wings of my NL. You only would have six 3/8" holes per side. They would be through the bottom of the wing. You have to keep in mind, the lift lifts the TC with a full 6-foot long by 8-inch wide 1/4" thick steel plate.

This photo it typical, the wing is sandwiched between the wing between the lift plate on the outside and 1/2" plywood on the inside using six carriage bolts. This is the dinette side of my Bigfoot.

  • Richard you still having problem with the crappy jacks/ if its the motor I still have another motor your welcome to get.
A run along the sacandaga (sp) right now should be real colorful
    Best to ya Suds
  • Thanks Joe the motors are ok so far. Just not happy with their performance.
  • I bought my Stable Lift from a guy who tried to install it on his Bigfoot and said his walls were buckling when he went to lift it. I've seen many... uh... Bigfeet with Stable Lifts so I'm assuming his had a lot of structural rot. Stable Lift says to make sure you haven't got any rot.
My ideal setup - someday when/if I can justify diverting that much cash toward a camper - would be a Bigfoot or Northern Lite with a Stable Lift.
  • I put one on my lance 1181 5 years ago and have had no issues at all with it. Not fiberglass but helpful info Good luck!

What part of their performance ? I just purchased 3 cargo bars that will be modified into leg stablizers for my crappijacks

ps I just put 2 new 4800 series on one of my BF's and I am not impressed ,when using a cordless drill theystrain the drill way more than any of the earlier jacks did and had to increase the size of the fuses in the controller panel on those two jacks ??????,

2 of the 4 jacks seem like they are about ready to quit. Being level doesn't matter either. I have decided to not buy the Stabil lifts that was on C/L. Camper is put away for the winter, out of site out of mind.
