Staying in RV parks with truck campers

My wife an I workcamp May-Sep. We never take the camper off. If we go sightseeing we always have our bathroom and, if we go shopping we can put perishables into the refrig and not have to get home right away.
I would not worry about your campsite being given to another camper. Everything is on computer, Campground Master or NRRS. We left our water hose, sewer hose and even our Dish Tailgater. No problems.

I have been told by private RV Campgrounds their insurance does not allow removal of TC, due to safety if the TC falls over. I have been told by some it is due to city, county, or fire districts having ordinances against removing the TC. Even trailers must have wheels and tongues on. I have also been told some states have laws against removing the TCs in campgrounds.

I guess when it comes rite down to it, it makes no difference as to why. If the campground owner does not allow it, it is their decision.

I have never had the need nor interest in removing my TC while camping. I have and do use my TC for site seeing, and it is an 11.5 foot TC.

When I set camp, I plan on living there, even if it is a weekend. If I had to put everything away and secure all loose items in the camper every day, I'd go nuts.

I think it's a matter of preference and park policy.

I personally only remove my TC from the truck during the winter. It's a huge hassle, in part because mine is an older rig with 3 manual jacks. In part it's just a hassle to load and unload with any TC.

On the other hand it does take a certain amount of time to get lined up right, level, and hooked up.

It is true that some campgrounds do not allow TCs to be unloaded, either because they have problems getting them moved out of the way if the occupants just leave, or because they are an in area prone to flooding.

We recently stayed in an Oregon SP and unloaded the camper while we went sightseeing. The last day of our stay a Class B came into the site next to us. He stayed a few minutes and then put out an orange traffic cone with a sign on it that said, "Reserved." He left for several hours and then returned. Seemed like a good idea to me.

Personally, I like to be able to leave the camper set up and take the pickup for sightseeing, shopping, etc. We haven't run into a campground that won't allow unloading the TC, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. It never hurts to check with the management and simply follow the rules. If you don't like the rules, you can move on.

Check where you will be doing the seasonal work. They may let you stay on the property for free. Then you could just go some place for the weekend to dump/refill the tanks and get ready for another week.

For me, it would depend on how far of a drive and traffic as to if I wanted to take the TC or leave it behind. If you do take it off, consider grabbing some pallets or blocks to help support the TC while in use. Check with park management first as they may be worried about the appearance.

Every RV Park we stayed at that wasn't self service (like some city parks), assigned us a site and it was ours regardless of our presence. Haven't been in a park yet that wouldn't let us drop the TC. I think that is what is meant by RESERVATION. Just sayin'

Don't keep track of where you're parked? I've never seen that. Usually, you're assigned a spot.

I guess if you had to take your TC. You could put out a personel Sign, like the Fifth Wheels guys do with there name or organization they belong to. Of course could be problematic as TC's do not have a lot of space for signs to carry and people would know you are not in camp. If you leave some stuff out, Chained up to mark your campground and your stuff may get lost, if you know what mean!
