Still waiting for our new camper

Jayco builds in "similar model" batches in each of the towables final assembly plants, and similarly back up the supply line in the cabinet, furniture, frame etc shops. So if the model you ordered was produced shortly beforeyou ordered it, the plant may not get back to that one again until rotating through all the other model lines and types for which there are orders.

Jayco may make the Starcraft in its own plant (not sure, didn't own the brand when I last toured) but would most likely follow the same production management scheme used in Jayco plants.

If the factory. gave the dealer a production date, that date is likely good. After that you are waiting for transport, in a slow season for RV transport.

You cannot order direct from the manufacturer, only through a dealer. If you order one you can pick which options you want. MSRP is always a fake number, DW and I searched nation wide what they were selling for and got a final price through the dealer that was a very fair price for the both of us.

Where I was going with all this originally, is that I was told the Amish take a bunch of time off (weeks at a time) over holidays and that's what has delayed the shipment of the new camper.

That's another reason I wondered how many Amish worked at the factory. I'm excited to see this new camper come in, DW and I have not even walked through a model camper yet. All we have done is searched photos from the internet on this model unit.

I agree with Fla-gypsy it's how many you can get out the door and go home.

Beemerphile the Amish are known for building very high quality furniture. The RV MFG are trying to cash in on this.

There are high end rigs that have quality construction but not very many people have 100K plus to buy them.

Does Star Craft have their own factory or are they built at the Jayco factory?

Go to their website where they make multiple references to "Based in the heart of northern Indiana's Amish country". Your supposed to assume they employ Amish. I did read tha Jaco's workforce is 70% Amish, so if that is also Starcraft, then I guess I'll eat my hat.
