Super Cab vs Crew Cab

We went to the car show and realized that CC offers insane amount of rear space (we are both very short), probably wasting payload capacity. How much room does Super Cabs have? In the pictures, they look tiny but can adults sit behind you if a 5'5" person is driving in front?

I'll probably visit a dealer as well. Hopefully they have one in stock.

  • My last truck was an 4X4 F-350 crew cab with 8 ft bed. It took 40 acres to make a U turn. However it rode like a Cadillac. It was nice having the extra passenger space and when traveling.
My current truck is a 4X4 F-350 extended cab with 8 ft bed. It can make a whole lot tighter turn. With just the 2 of us we rarely have rear seat passengers and not on long trips. I miss some of the extra space with the crew cab but it sure is nicer getting around town with the extended cab.
  • It's not even close for me...crew cab all the way...tons of interior storage room if no passengers.

I think the extended cabs look better though.

Had a Extended cab F150 and was a torture device for my tall son in the backseat after about an hour.

    Thanks!

  • had a 08 super cab after a trip that the wife sat in the back we bought a crew cab. She is not a big person 5'4 105lbs, but the seat back being that vertical and seemed to be lacking on padding was what bothered her, also the seat surface is shorter, not doubt the 150 extra cab has better seating.

With that said if you never plan to ever never have anyone back there then buy a super cab, you will save $$$ and payload.
  • As stated by others the supercab is good for 2 people and the occasional traveller(s) in the back seat. DW and I are about the same height as you and our 3 adult daughters fit back there fine for short trips but I don't think it would be comfortable to put anyone back there for days on end. One advantage we find is that its easier to reach to the stuff in the back as it is closer to you, which is great for short arms! And also we have a full size 8' box but the truck isn't any longer than a CC with a short box, so no slider needed and tons of space for toolboxes, gas cans etc.
  • My SC is rated a 6 passenger, and has seat belts/headrests for 6. I didn't need/want a CC for 2 of us, and small puppy. I can easily walk behind it in my garage. I did not want a longer truck.

However, I do have to say, I would not want to ride in the back seat for more than an hour. There is foot room, but the seats are not designed for comfort. I had to order mine to get it optioned the way I wanted. There are very few on dealer lots, due to lack of interest.

  • I didn't realize SC's seat backs are more vertical.

We don't have pets and we will carry passengers only occasionally. Our kids are all grown up and left our home. We'll have to see how comfy that back seat is then.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. :)
  • When not used for hauling people in style and comfort the back of a CC can have the seats folded flat for an enormous amount of inside payload carrying capacity.

I've had a couple SC's but would never take one over a CC again. Worth the money.
  • Acei, The super cab configurations should have enough leg room behind a 5'5" driver, but the rear seat back may be too vertical for long distance comfort.
  • It all depends on what you need. If it's just two of you a super cab would be plenty of space.
If you're hauling kids, pets or other passengers a CC is probably needed.
Or if it's your only vehicle and a daily driver, a CC may be a better option.
Only you know what will fit your needs.
When I get another truck it will be a CC. It's what we need.
