T-Stat Recommendations

Looking to change out the T-Stat on the rig any recommendations?

  • Many household thermostats often use/require a "C" wire for power (24v), unless you use a battery powered one that doesn't require it.

For an RV, unless you plan to stay with an "old school" mechanical thermostat, the digital version you're probably longing for will need to be battery powered.

We use a Hunter thermostat (2, AA battery powered) that also has a remote control, which we keep bedside for cold mornings.

The only thing to watch out for if installing a home t-stat is your 2 speed fan function which may require an extra switch if you want to keep that function. The home units seem to work fine but the wiring on some is a bit different but there are lots of posts on how to do it.

So... can a regular household tstat be used in an RV?

Yes. The 2 posts above summarize it pretty well.

Yes, with the caveat I posted above.
