It's not perception. It's fact.
Just search for "jack failure" or "jack collapsed" in this forum for some examples of what can happen when you take a leg out from under one of these campers.
As I said earlier, not everyone is smart enough or conscientious enough to lower their camper to the ground and/or set up additional supports underneath. Those idiots ruin it for everyone.
