I guess it depends on your view. True that the sticker is sometimes less and the spring pack is different. The frame is the same for the pickup type. There are other significant differences for most years. Assuming you get one with 19.5s, the G rated tires are rated more, and the rear axle is generally rated higher as well with bigger, better brakes and generally a much tighter turn radius.
My F450 has a 14500 GVWR. That leaves 5300 or so via the sticker. The axle is rated way higher than the F350 of the same years and again, the tires/wheels are, too. F350 DRWs similarly equipped had barely higher sticker values unless they were gasoline.
