What I meant is that as an old hot rodder I'm not willing to loose hp and almost 200ft lbs of torque because of wanting a stick shift In the same model dodge truck
automatic 385 horsepower 850 lb-ft of torque
manual 350 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque
Manuals only rob 1-2% of power. However, if we consider that the automatic will rob power, the numbers to rear wheels would be:
15% (min): auto 385 x 0.85 = 327 hp and 800 x 0.85 = 680
20% (typ): auto 385 x 0.80 = 308 hp and 800 x 0.80 = 640
Which means with a manual you would have more hp and about the same torque. So not as bad as the numbers make you believe at first glance.
One of the reasons they up the torque on the Asian Transmission is because while it is heavy duty, it also is more inefficient so they increase power to compensate.
