Gordon,
I had (3) Warner Gear T-19's in various rigs during the 80's. All synchros. I liked all three of them. cast iron case. about 195 pounds.
Here's the catch: there were three different gear ratios and configs.
1. Wide ratio T-19: 6.32/3.09/1.68/1.00/ an option used by IHC on Scouts
2. Mid ratio T-19: 5.11/3.03/1.79/1.00/ used by Ford in the 80's on up to 1-ton 460 gassers. A pretty good hole between 2nd and 3rd
3. close ratio T-19: 4.02/2.41/1.41/1.00/ used by IHC on Scouts with turbo diesel option.
For your era Ford pickup, there was only one good contemporary option to go big:
Clark 280VO, 5 speed, 5 ton truck transmission. This is the rare one of all the Clarks. 5.98/3.50/1.86/1.00/0.80/5.04R
I have this one in my garage waiting for a truck donor. This thing is big hardware. It weighs about 225 pounds. It came out of a 1979 Ford gas engine F600 or F700 4WD two axle dump truck. It still has the NP205(or Rockwell)/divorced t. case gear lever on the back of the trans.
Ah, the price of wanting a stick.
