Thermistor question on new dometic 2652 fridge

as you can probably see, im new to all this.. my new tracer camper came with a dometic 2652 fridge with the thermistor to control the temp. I was just wondering if the little probe thing is supposed to be completely inside that plastic slide thing that attaches to the fin, or if its supposed to stick out ontop of it at all? I turned on fridge this past weekend and I am monitoring temps inside with digital probe... it doesn't really make much of difference wether I move the probe up or down.. I don't really notice a change in temps even though it says to move it up for cool or down for warm. when I move it up the probe goes completely inside the plastic piece, and of course as I move it down it sticks out above it.... my temps either way are around 7 degrees in the freezer and around 35 in the fridge, so im hoping/assuming these temps are right on and good.... fridge is brand new... been running for four days now for me to test.... thanks

  • The plastic clip is a Dometic 2932456029 Bracket, thermistor. Finding one may be a challange. Good luck.

Here is a picture of the thermister that I stole from a fellow Sunline owner.

... and here is the plastic clip in my fridge.

The wire you can barely see in the second picture should move up and down so the thermister stays in the same relative location within the plastic piece.

Ahhh! I don't have the plastic piece! Thank you so much for the pic. Now time to scour the web for one. Maybe Dometic??

yeah will then this is interesting. why does my frige temp increase as I move the slider up and decrease as I move it down? LMAO.......im lost with this. I have been monitoring it all weekend and the fridge temps are colder with the slider down....doesn't make any sense at all.. im not too concerned but it seems opposite for me..oh well..thats the fridge, im not sure if freezer temp is opposite also..oh well

on my dometic, the label by the thermistor shows "warmer" at the top, 'colder" at the bottom, just like your seeing.

yes, it doesn't have much range. if you want to have a truly adjustable temperature control buy the dinosaur electronics adjustable thermostat for dometic "non adjustable" fridges. works great.
  • Does anyone have pics to share of the thermistor and it's placement? I bought a 2008 Summerland 2670BH with the exact refrig but the probe has no where to go. Thought if some kind soul would share a pic, I would know what to buy if, in fact, that part is missing. Thanks!

  • You should be sliding the whole slider up or down on the cooling fin. Also the temperature change will not be immediate and it will take several hours to notice a change. With all that said the temperatures you stated are good.
  • I have the same frig and it would not keep ice cream frozen, always very soft no matter the position of the thermistor. I added a 100,000 ohm resistor across the thermistor leads inside the control box (outside access) to drop the temps in the freezer & fridge a few degrees. (I found the thermistor lead a bit short too so that it would show or hide when sliding the inside adjuster.) My older Dometics all controlled better but there is no adjustment on the controller board. You would have to replace it with a Dinosaur board to get better calibration.
  • Similar to you I haven't noted a major difference in temp by sliding the device - however when set to "cold" my freezer usually stays around zero while my fridge stays around 34. Not sure but I think it's the elevation of the bulb that is suppose to control the temp - whether it's inside or outside the holder probably doesn't matter in the long run. I purchased a fan on ebay that attaches to the fins inside the fridge - eliminated frost issues on the fins and made a nice difference in keeping fridge consistently cold.
