I'looking at buying a leftover 2013 fORD f350 superduty crewcab4X4 shortbed 6.7dieselTO tow my 2010 Cougar 5thwheel 327 RES weighing fully loaded 12K. Myold truck was a 2002 7.3 F250 diesel which I loved to death& it handled the load well ,but it was time to move up. I've been reading nothing but problems from all 3 automakers with emission issues due to the regeneration system& on these diesels causing clogged dpf filters.I don't think any of thesetrucks have a head up over another with the new emission laws.I live in Ohio where we have to get inspections every 2 yrs so def delete is not an option at this point. I KNOW A 6.2LT GAS IS CAPABLE WITH THE RIGHT GEARING,OBVIOUSLY LESS TORQUE & FUEL ECONOMY, BUT I DIDN'T PAY $8500 EXTRA EITHER. Am I making a mistake by buying the diesel in these trying emission times??? I DROVE THE FORD TRUCKWITH THE 6.7 & LOVED THE POWER & 3.55 ELECTRIC LOCKING AXLE. IS THE GAS A BETTER CHOICE WITH THE HIGHER MAINTENCE THESE DAYS?? I USUALLY DO BASIC THINGS MYSELF OIL CHANGES,FUEL FILTER ETC. LET ME KNOW GUYS IF YOU CURRENTLY OWN A 6.7 AS TO YOUR OPINION AND IF YOU'VE HAD ANY PROBLEMS OF ANY SORT. I hope I'm not going to regret selling my7.3 DIESEL!! YOUR OPINIONS ARE WELCOME! I did also drive the RAM 2500 6.7 CUMMINS, liked it but was also concerned about above the frame issues, electrical etc., THE NEW 2015 CHEVY/GMC ISN'T OUT UNTIL SPRING WITH THE SAME PROVEN DURAMAX UNDER HP&TORQUE COMPARED TO THE OTHER 2. YOUR OPINIONS& THANKS!

My opinion: the real "risk" with diesels of the past 5-6 years is the potential for high-dollar repairs once out of warranty.If you're looking at a 2013 you obviously will have a warranty behind you so I say:If you liked the diesel...and want the diesel...get the diesel and enjoy the heck out of it!

Hopefully it won't morph into gas vs. diesel...but I wouldn't bet money against that happening.I recommended the diesel mainly since my interpretation of his post (yours may vary) was that he truly wants the diesel but has some lingering fears. Me personally, I wouldn't buy a diesel that wasn't under warranty but under warranty, oh yeah, hand me those keys.

Not sure about the current model year, but in '11-'13 model years when I was following Ford truck specs, the 6.2/4.30's GCW/tow rating was within 1500 lbs of the 6.7/3.55, in F250/350SRW pickups.

That's saying alot for the towing performance of the engine, considering the 6.7 has a good 300 more lb-ft of torque than the 6.2. That 4.30 gear makes a big difference in keeping the 6.2 in it's power band, in addition to multiplying torque by a much greater factor than 3.55. The low 1st-3rd gears of the tranny help alot too.

I would have no problem myself with buying an F350SRW 6.2/4.30 truck to tow 12K lbs.

Ford is not honoring the warranty. You can purchase all the extended warranty you want, but if Ford doesn't honor it, you're S.O.L when the thing fails and Ford tells you, sorry, not our problem. And that's exactly what they've been doing with the 6.7's with problems.

I would buy the 6.2 gas engine with 4.30 axle ratio, or a Dodge diesel, instead of the 6.7 Ford diesel.

What good is that warranty if Ford claims you put bad diesel in it and denies warranty saying that there was water in fuel? People have had this failures with the water in fuel indicator not giving a warning! Chris

Well, I do agree with the comment that doing the maintenance is not necessarily a prescription for a trouble free truck,but you can have problems with any of these new trucks with all the emission
garbage they put on! I am planning on buying a Ford extended warranty to hopefully CMA!!!! You never know anyone of us could buy anything new from the 3 automakers and buy a Lemon!!

2012 F250 bought it Memorial Day 2012 and thought I had put a lot of miles on it 36,120 but not according to the last 2 posts.
Approximately 12,000 of those miles was pulling my 35 foot Outback 5th wheel.

We have a 2012 F-250 w/6.7 and no regrets (32,000 miles).
Pulling 14,000 plus also short bed. Get 19.5 to 21 on road not pulling and 11.5 to 12 w/5th wheel.

I own a '12 Super Duty with 34k miles and not a single problem. The truck runs' like a scalded dog and pulls like a Clydesdale. Also the fuel economy is impressive as well.
