It might even be necessary to access the winch to lower your spare tire anyway. Some campers' rear overhand blocks the winch hole. This is more in line with my approach, but I probably wouldn't bother releasing tie downs. Just alternate between camper and Jack as you lift. You don't need all the camper weight off the truck for the jack to get a wheel off the ground. No need to add more **** (to forget to bring) and more complication.
