Not looking for the "my truck is better that yours" discussions. I have been a GM guys for a long time (but not set on a GM) and I am starting to look at new diesel trucks. Currently have a 2012 D/A pulling a Montana 3750 5'er. What features / options should I look at for each of the brands? TIA, Mike

Some nice features that the new Ford has that I don't believe are available with GM are: adaptive cruise; multi view cameras; massage seats; better storage under and behind the rear seat; the tailgate step and the power telescoping and folding mirrors.

i have never owned a Ford either but they also have the huge sun roof option which looks pretty cool.

What features and options do YOU want? I have had a fully loaded Laramie because my ex-wife had to have all the comforts. As for me? None of that stuff matters. The base model trucks have all of the comforts I need.

I'd personally stick to GM or Ram to avoid the potential CP4 issue in the Powerstroke. Other than that black mark the new Super Duty looks like an awesome truck, but with the other great diesel choices available I'd prefer not to take on that risk. To be fair I think the risk is pretty minimal but Ford's track record with covering it under warranty is spotty and the financial hit would be pretty significant if you got unlucky.

Personally I would pick the trucks with the least amount of chrome and badges. Those things just make trucks UGLY to me. Fords tend to stick "super duty" everywhere, some of them you can never remove. Yea, I like my trucks clean. I also like leather and power everything. From reports GMs have the most dated interiors, and force the buyer to one rear end ratio. While Ford and Ram offer choices. Ram is the only current mfg offering a manual trans if thats your thing. Ram dealers seem to want to deal on new trucks, while Ford is awfully proud of theirs.Bottom line, go test drive the exact model you want from all three and see which fits your butt best. Then see which is wanting to deal to get the price YOU are satisfied with.

Ram calls it “no charge Cummins option”, they don’t actually use the word free but it comes out the same. I no longer have the ad from when I bought it but here is an article discussing a similar incentive. This one is no charge Cummins OR better financing rate. I got the no charge Cummins AND zero percent financing plus employee pricing and matched down payment up to $1500 and a couple other little things added in. The dealer couldn’t find exactly what I wanted but gave me all the same incentives with a factory ordered truck.

Free if you pay full MSRP?

My window sticker and order sheet show the diesel as an added $9,345 option. My invoice shows a $9,345 rebate for it, on top of other incentives. That would make it a no cost option. I got the diesel truck for $1k less than the same truck with a 6.4l Hemi. The only reason I bought it.

You can only get a good deal on a RAM truck by traveling to a specific dealer in Boise Idaho, no matter how far it is from where you reside. Where I came upon that fact slips my mind........ahhhh it was on this board.

No, extended cab is what you're talking about. Half size doors, half size seats. Dodge quad cabs 03-09 in HD trucks, we're like a 3/4 size back seat. Crew cab = full size doors, full seat. Mega cab = expensive bigger. Same size seats and similar leg room as a crew, but seat also reclines some.

I am confident on the Ram DRW 3500/aisin trans. with either 3.73 or 4.10 rearend. Tradesman thru the Longhorn trims. Solid built interiors and plenty of power with a sweeping look exterior that looks pretty slick. I drove Silverados of all sizes for 30 years until I got in these newer Rams.
