Re back flushing:
I found that they do help if you allow enough water to get back into the tank so that it has the same impact as dumping when you have a full tank. The effectiveness may be more or less depending on the design of the black tank and the drain lines. And, it's not a method for cleaning debris stuck on the side walls of the tank. But, if you backflush, it will help clean out any debris left behind after the first flush.
