In a nutshell, gas is cheaper than diesel, gas engines are cheaper to maintain, and with new 6 and 8 speed transmissions their towing capabilities are greatly improved. A lot of it depends on your personal situation....towing over 12,000 lbs, or towing regularly at elevation where the turbo diesel doesn't suffer power loss, or fulltiming vs vacationing are all reasons to consider a diesel.
