I can understand people questioning it. I did many times. There is something about that turbo diesel low end torque that is rather addicting. With that being said, the new diesels are a different animal all together. That torque management makes it a completely different driving experience compared to 12v, 24v, or common rail. The new ones are really powerful, but not the same driving experience as the older ones.
As for my 03, it had 250,000 miles on it. QC LB 5 speed 4x4 SLT. Almost no rust (some on bottom of tailgate and starting on passenger side rear wheelwell), but had a few good size dents as well as a crack in the dash and a hole in drivers seat. I sold it private party for $12,000. I had trade in offers of $9000-10000.
