tow power cable partially severed

Like has been mentioned, cut, splice, tie up and continue on. I have reinsulated most of my wires under my trailer, to to prevent rubs. I crawl under mine all the time to do a check of stuff.

I did the exact same thing my first time out. Be sure and check all you fuses in your truck. Come to find out I had blown the fuse on the 12V constant to the trailer. I didn't realize it until 6 months later when the camper was at the dealer for service and it set there long enough for the battery to go dead and my jack wouldn't work even when plugged into the truck.

I did this, the road ate clear through all the wire, no trailer brakes no signals in WDC 5:00 traffic. Sat along the road with a splice kit and 14 Ga wire using the passenger side seat as my tool bench. Thank the Lord I had enough wire and the tools to do a temp fix. It fixed it temp but I ordered a wire terminal (outdoor/enclosed) and a 7 pin connector w/3 ft. of cable to fix it "properly".

do what rode2nowhere typed do a temp fix now then replace the cable. all splices go bad, the long term repair is to splice, tape with elect tape, then heat shrink the repair this will ensure no water on the repair

If you have the room there that sounds like a good idea. I use a padlock through my coupler with no room to spare. A properly secured bungee cord might help keep the cord out of harms way as well.

I do this all the time after pinching my power cable on my first TT. Routing through the safety pin is a smart move. Even so I also try to avoid sharp turns.

If it is just light wires, splice them, tape them and forget about it. I would not spend money on anything new. If it was a brake wire then that is another story.

Same thing happened to me at Dover Nascar Race May 31. Severed almost all the wires backing into narrow campground space. Be sure to disconnect your battery cable before working on it.When trying to splice the wires I used two different size connectors because there are two different size wires in the cable, but did not get any lights to work. Drove 16 miles to Milford, De. At Delmarva RV store they replaced the cables and got all lights working except running lights. Found a relay and 2 or 3 fuses blown on my Ford F150. Good luck with it.
