Tow with a Jeep 4x4 8 cylinder vs truck?

Thanks for your feed backs. The Grand Cherokee 2017 is what we were looking at. But, it does sound like most feed back does not recommend it for what we need. We suspected as much, but always good to confirm.

The Grand Cherokee's towing limits are a little over 7000 pounds. The receiver limit is right around 750 pounds, which is about 6000 pounds loaded and 5000 pounds dry. With 750 pounds of TW, you need to be careful of how much weight is inside the cabin before exceeding the payload, which my understanding is under 1200 pounds.

Cost wise, a crew cab half ton is about the same for similar equipment in a mid sized SUV, hold it's value far better, and will tow with proper equipment much more comfortably.

We REALLY wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee to pull the new trailer we were about to buy. However, running the numbers convinced us that towing would be unpleasant. We "settled" for an F-150.

Pick up the trailer on May 30. (Were supposed to pick it up 5/18 but they have to install the roof solar, AND, they locked the keys up in the trailer! They are contacting Airstream to try to get another set of keys. We told them we would get it May 30 after our daughter's out of town wedding, and not to rush, but to do it right.)

Pick up the truck the second week of June.

on edit; I finally found the payload capacity and it is 1180 lbs.
So lets see a 6200 pound trailer will put about that will take a minimum 750 lbs of your 1180 pound payload capacity leaving you 430 pounds for people etc.

A half ton truck would be a much better fit. You would be surprised how maneuverable a half ton crew cab with a 5.5 ft bed is.

I was on the fence between a midsize SUV and my SuperCrew PU truck. It's not even close. The cab is literally a cavern and is much more roomy compared to Any midsize SUV I have looked at. Plus I have about 700 lbs of payload MORE than a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Not the Cherokee is not a TV for a TT. The JGC is do-able but you do lose quite a bit of capability compared to a truck.

Not the Cherokee! Perhaps the Grand Cherokee? Big difference. The JGC can pull 7K but we recommend not going over a 26ft TT. PM me if you want further details.

Aren't many 25 to 29 foot TTs at 4,500 wet....if any. I agree, the wet wild.
