Trailmanor Experiences

Don't know if I'm on the right forum or not, but,

What are your hi's and low's from towing/using a Trailmanor
Models 27xx and 29xx. ( I think that they fit within
my towing capacity.)

Dealer experiences?

My closest dealer seems to be in California from Arizona
  • What about the A-Frames with double dormers? Full ceiling height all around?

With gear loaded in the vehicle and trailer, you probably would be way over-weight with the Trailmanor. Like I said, the smallest Trailmanor has a GVWR of 3500 lbs. They certainly are cool looking though.
  • Your right. The Models that I should have referred to are the
24xx and 27xx. yes, I've looked at the Aliner, Chalet, etc.
you're right, they are easy to set up, but I feel claustrophobic
    inside one.
  • Have you considered any of the A-frame trailers? Aliner, Chalet etc.? Very easy set up and very light. 3500 lbs is not much towing capacity for a Trailmanor. I think the smallest you mention has a GVWR of 3500 lbs. Forget the dry weight.
  • Thanks for the input. I have been considering a Trailmanor to replace
my current pop up, but my GVWR for towing is 3500lbs and several of the models fall within this limit. Right now, it takes me a little over an hour to setup the pop up and my interest was because of the ease of setup. I'm almost 74 and the pop up is starting to wear me out, plus my wife is Handicapped and it's a one man operation.

    Any more comments/plus's.minus's??

Seals, Latches/locks and setup experiences were a concern.
  • I have a 2417, which is the smallest model. It was everything we wanted - small, simple, well made. Our last trailer was a large high wall trailer, with everything. great for our family, but now we are empty nesters. We got ours without a toilet, because we did want simple. It certainly is easier that the high wall and much more comfortable.

We live in So Cal, so I can tell you that the dealer is first rate. BTW, that was another thing we wanted - a good dealer.

BTW, they now have the option of recirculating toilets or cassette toilets. The newer TMs have so many improvements over the older models.
  • We towed and used a 26' trailmanor from nc to the Canadian Rockies and return to salt lake city five years ago. We enjoyed the trip but upon our return knew we did not want one. Unless they are completely level they cannot be safely raised and lowered. It seemed to be impossible for the two sections to seal tightly and we experienced some very cold weather. The model that we had made it necessary to raise the top to access the fresh water tank. It towed well but no better than our present tt and it was heavier. We just did not see any real advantages. That said, our friends love theirs. Lizzie

    no we
  • I have a new 2015 3124 KD Trailmanor that I am still getting to know. There are pluses and minuses based on what it is attempting to do:

    Pluses:
    1. Low weight.
    2. Low drag by folding down.
    3. Hard sided safety
    4. No tent fabric to dry out when compared to popups
    5. Excellent towing, no sway at all (I have a Blue Ox Swaypro) and much better gas mileage than a typical travel trailer. In my case, I get between 15-16.5 MPG on a 2005 Avalanche that is not really designed for towing (small V-8, 2 WD, 3.42 rear end) although I have the tow package.
    6. Much more room and niceties than a standard popup. For instance, I have a king bed, a very large full kitchen, a very nice dinette that can be converted to a full size bed, and I upgraded to a compressor refrigerator that will actually get cold in the hot summer weather.
    7. I can also confirm the excellent customer service.

    Minuses:
    1. Have to open and close it (takes me 2 minutes to get it open and about the same to close it) plus about 5 minutes to get the inside ready.
    2. Bathroom in the current models cannot have a black water tank due to the inability to get an RVIA certified venting solution (should have it on the RISE model they are working on though). That issue comes from the fact that the bathroom folds up when towing so a pipe would be a real challenge. TM gives you the option to have either a recirculating toilet that can dump like a standard black water tank or a cassette toilet (I have this).
    3. Although I have a very nice refrigerator, it is much smaller as it cannot be taller than counter height.

The best place to learn all about TMs is to go to their forum. As you can see, I also come here as both have very nice and informative topics. I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this link:

One last thing. They have just relocated their manufacturing to Nebraska from Tennessee. They are planning to leave an East Coast service center which I really appreciate. I am near Virginia Beach.
  • We had one for two seasons and traded it in for our current TT to get more space and avoid unfolding and folding.
Being an engineer I was intrigued by the design. The hard sides makes so much more sense than having canvas. It towed easily and setup and down easily also once one got the hang of it. When we had one the customer service was superb. I always recommend new RVers look at them BUT they are quite a bit more expensive than the popups.
