Not necessarily "premium"...any 2500 truck came with a trans temp gauge installed. No need to pay $$$ for retrofit, just go to a boneyard and get the dash cluster from a 2500 truck and you are good to go.
My 2004 2500HD LT with tow package didn't come with the gauge -- just the dummy light. When I had to change the cluster due to some illumination problems and a bad speedometer I got one with the trans gauge.
