Transfer case problems

I posted earlier about my 03 Silverado 2500HD whining. After finding the pump in pump in the transfer case was bad I thought I found it. The transfer case now has all new bearings, seals, fork inserts and pump and the noise is still there. Dropped the pan on the tranny and not a spec of anything and fluid looked like new. Today I took it to another shop and they said the noise is in the transfer case and not the transmission. I told him what was done and he said it could be the planetary gears even though everything looks fine. He said short of replacing all the parts it may be hard to find. This is driving me nuts.

He is the third shop that said just keep driving it that it isn't going to grenade and eventually it will wear enough to tell what it is. Makes me nervous, but I am going to drive it some and save for a whole new transfer case. I find it hard to believe the noise this is making isn't already obvious. I would think there would be debris in the tranny pan if it was that, but I am not convinced.
