Travel Trailer Tires

I did it! Thanks for the input/feedback/help.
I found my Goodyear Marathon (thanks to you guys) ST205/75R14 load rating C tires.
521 installed ... for all four. WheelWorks beat the Tire Rack price by 3/tire.
Metal valves no extra charge.
Now I get to bring my trailer places without worrying about my 12 year old tires!

May add a few months to the life of a tire that sits most of its life.

I have covers over my tires. Do tires deteriorate just due to time and temperature changes even if covered?

OK, so here's the plan:
Found Goodyear Marathon ST205/75R14's, WheelWorks has them in the warehouse, and I have an appointment for next Friday at 0730.
WheelWorks will match best price I find locally between now and installation.
I will feel much safer once I'm no longer running on 12 year old tires!

Note: Weight correction mentioned earlier was from NADA online. Spec sheet inside trailer states: UVW 4,551 lbs. ^Trailer is double axle.

Now to start treating the trailer as a restoration hobby and make it worthy of SNOB resorts in spite of it's age.

No misread. st205/70R14 is what's on the sidewall. These are Goodyear Marathons, original tires, on a 2003 trailer.
The tires are in great condition, the only reason I'm replacing them is because they are 11 years old.

The Best Trailer Tire I ever came across was made by Duro, very good quality and the rounded corner helps to not get tread separation, when my tires on my Lance wear out, that will be my choice..

America's Tire is the same as Discount Tire Direct in Ca. Here is a link for comparison. America's Tire will give you the same price, plus mounting and tax.

Personal use and tons of anecdotal evidence on-line.
I did everything right (speed, PSI, weight) but still had many tire failures including one (Carlisle) that suffered a tread separation just laying in the back of my truck under the canopy - and it had never touched the road, saw daylight or rain.
After installing a set of Maxxiss 4 years ago I have not had a single issue.

But you could have had the same result or even better possibly with Michelin, Goodyear, etc. correct? But since you didnt try these you dont really know. Maxxis may be good tires but they are certainly not the only good tire out there.

Maxxis ST8008 do seem popular on this web and not so popular on other trailering websites.
However there has been twenty three RV.net member with Maxxis tire complaints...mostly tread separations. Some websites runs even more complaints. Maxxis doesn't use the nylon cap under the tread on all ST tire sizes and load ranges which may have some bearing on reliability on certain sizes.

The OP says he has a 4091 lb trailer. Now that could mean 2045 lbs per tire on a single axle trailer....... or just 1022 lb per tire on a tandem axle trailer.
Either way thats a very lite trailer.
And if he has ran his current tires for 12 years I would get another set just like them.

The Kumho is a 65 psi rated tire and will be serious over kill for a 4091 lb tandem axle trailer. Or a good choice if the trailer is a single axle unit.

The spare ??
I would replace it also.
