I would not cross those tie down straps like that. They should be front to front and rear to rear just like any truck camper tie down setup. If I had the strength to lift the rear end of that camper I could tip it forward in that current configuration. The pivot point right now is where the straps cross...
Yeah that was just to get it home when I bought it. Not going to use the straps again. Those are my Macs I use to tie down my Jeep. I have the camper hard mounted to the trailer now. There is a 2x4 frame member right below the camper door. I took a piece of 1/4" thick aluminum angle iron the width of the trailer and ran 8 3/8" lag bolts up thru the aluminum, thru the trailer deck boards, and into that 2x4. Then I shot more lag bolts up in several key places in similar fashion. Ran some aluminum angle along the sides below the wheel wells and screwed it into the frame of the camper and the trailer deck the whole length. Those tool boxes also help secure it side to side. They are mounted with carriage bolts thru the deck and two cross members per box. I was debating running a few carriage bolts thru the camper into the boxes too but haven't done it yet. I don't think it's going anywhere. - Tom_AndersonExplorerI've been seriously thinking about selling my car trailer and getting a gooseneck so I can do the same thing. All I need is the right deal to come along.

And if I had a 12K GVW or less pickup I could have a 14k rated trailer and still not need a CDL.
I did wonder about it, so thanks for confirming.
12k GVW pickup can weight as litle as 6000lb.
So you can legally tow 14k trailer with 6k pickup.
Smart, very smart.
Thinking more about it, sounds like you could tow 17,000 lb trailer with F150. All legally. - 2BLAZERSExplorer

Just bare in mind that trailers >10k lb require CDL and I don't think you can get flatbed trailer reclassified as an RV.
So in CA you will need 26k weight stickers and those cost about $400 every single year.
Note the the OP is in Nevada and CDL is for commercial not personal trailers. So try not to confuse people.
In many states we can haul 14k trailers with no issues for personal use. I've had several. Dump trailer and flatbeds for personal use.

You, Sir should check what you are typing about, or don't type at all.
As you can see, Nevada, just like California does require CDL for trailers above 10,000 lb.
see page 1
So does Oregon if GCVWR exceed 26k
O good grief. Angry much?
How about check your local state for your own rules. No?
For Oregon
A 10k or 12k non-RV trailer would not cause me to need a CDL in Oregon for personal use. It would only require a T plate on my truck. Which i have and I'm registered for 26k combined.
And if I had a 12K GVW or less pickup I could have a 14k rated trailer and still not need a CDL.
T Plated truck requirement starts with 8K rated trailers. Is not connected to CDL at all. You just start paying yearly for your weight class. So i pay for 26K combined rating for my 10,400gvw enclosed trailer and 14k pickup. My truck camper is included in the 26k - Kayteg1Explorer II

Yep. That's why PJ downgraded the trailer and have it rated at 9,999 lbs. but yeah, a pair of 7k breaking axles, 6" channel frame, etc. it can handle it no problem. Bumper pulls usually don't draw the attention that a goose does as far as registers commercial and such does. Haven't taken it out like this just yet. Scrambling to get the details and such wrapped up before my first trip.
It definitely is tongue heavy without the Jeep on the back, but honestly, I'm not planning to take the camper out without it so I'm not too concerned about that. - azrvingExplorer.
