Either of these options is the best solution..
You're trailer is too big for a 1/2t, and a 3/4t or 1 ton is too big/uneconomic to drive daily.
I only agree because OP is only talking a twice a year tow.
I really don't think that 3/4 tins and SRW 1 tons are really any bigger than 1/2 tons now days the real difference is a stiffer ride as the mileage at least for a diesel is about the same.
