Two wheel drive or 4x4?
Looking at purchasing a new tow vehicle and considering the pros and cons of two wheel vs four wheel drive. Which do you have and why did you make that choice?

- I have 4x4 but primarily because it is very hard to find a 4x2 F350 on the dealer's lots other than basic work trucks.
Have never used 4x4 while towing. Only a very few times when in the mud on some land I own or when deer hunting on muddy days. And could have probably done without it then.
But South Dakota?????? - Oops- you may never need it!
- Buy the 4x4 it's like insurance you may never did it - but glad you have it!
- Many folks think 4X4 is only for snow/sand. I have used ours many times on wet grass which is slick and on a slight grade that has loose gravel. You will never regret buying 4X4!
- 4X4, since I live in NY and it's my daily driver. 2X4 trucks are a hard sell here, I passed up a deeply discounted new Yukon because it was 2X4.
My dad had a 2X4 Tundra and took a severe hit on it's trade-in value. - We chose 4x4 but we prefer boondocking and without that capability we would have not been able to get to (and more importantly leave) some of the spots we've camped. It may be more costly to purchase and maintain a 4x4, but with our style of camping, it would be unwise to leave home without it.
- We have 4X4. We have used it towing a couple/few times (the truck *may* have made it through without the trailer in 2wd). We have used it a lot not towing. As far as we are concerned, it's a lot like bear spray - useless unless you need it, priceless when you do.
- I think they are probably few and far between in ND. We inquired at a dealership in MO and they said it would probably be a special order to get a two wheel drive. We're thinking that (I know it sounds unusual) we'd be here in ND (not in the camper) in the winter and traveling in the summer. We've always had Chevy or GMC but open to other options and looking at moving to a 3/4 ton.

- Do they even sell 2WD in N Dakota :W Funny I was talking with a salesman about a new truck couple of weeks back. Was telling him what I wanted and mentioned 4WD and he chuckled and said thats all we sell :B
