And I am being apart of the discussion agreeing with another member and telling him how much it also amazes me how many people care about what others do with their own money. - ShinerBockExplorer

You do realize the pictures aren't of that specific truck? If you look at the specs, one option is "pickup box delete." That probably explains the size of the discount - they're not getting a lot of interested buyers. This picture is closer:
Really? It took me less than 5 minutes to find a regular cab Silverado 2500HD on a dealers lot for less than $40k in Rochester, New York.

The picture you just posted here is from a completely different website called www.truckandbody.com blog. It also appears from the file description(since I can see that when I quote it) that it is a pic from 2014. Note that the body of the truck in your picture is also the older 2014 body style and not a 2017 body style. So you basically pulled some random picture off the internet just to win your case.
If you actually look at the description of the vehicle I posted it specifically states "long box" in the description and not "cab and chassis". Also, it clearly states "long bed" in the VIN decoder below as well.
VIN: 1GB0KUEG4HZ279844
So what is your next reason? - 2oldmanExplorer II

x2. Few people buy trucks like that. I did. Then I had to cough up several grand for a bed, and my truck looked like a construction vehicle.

Yeah and it also amazes me how much people care about what others do with their own money. Last I checked we live in the US and not communist Russia. If someone one wants to buy a decked out F450 diesel just to haul a few sacks of groceries then why is it anyone else's business or concern?
Some people act like someone else buying something and not using it for its purpose or how they would use it then it is somehow having some kind of negative impact on them personally. If it is having some sort of negative impact on you personally or you hate people for having things that you don't then the problem is with you, not them.
Look at it this way people, at least they are keeping the economy rolling creating more jobs. Also, the people that buy these expensive trucks with all this technology are actually doing you a favor by making that technology more affordable down the road allowing today's XLT's to have the same technology as yesterday's Lariats. - mike-sExplorer

Yeah, with a bunch of BS rebates and discounts that cancel each other out and/or the buyer does not qualify for...
List price is $39,320. By the time you're done with tax, tags, licensing, you're pushing $43K out the door.
REGARDLESS, $40K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck. $35K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck. $30K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck. - 2oldmanExplorer II

I agree if you have an income of a couple to three hundred grand a year as an income, than (sic) maybe. - ShinerBockExplorer

Sure they have lower trim levels, fewer options, but good luck finding one! ALL the trucks on the lot are the fancy decked out ones because those are the ones they can make more money on.
Order one? A barebones 2500HD Chevy regular cab 4x4 gasser is north of $40,000! Besides, dealers don't want to order one, they only want to sell what they have on the lot.
...and I don't give a **** how you spend YOUR money, I only care about how I spend mine. I don't want to spend that much and the dealers are making it just about impossible to do it.

NEW 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD - DutchmenSportExplorerMy first pick-up was a 1985 Chevy S-10. It had an AM radio... that's it! No other electronics. It had rubber floors, no air conditioning, no power windows, no power seats, no cruise control, no time delayed windshield wipers, no automatic transmission (yes, it was a manual 4 speed with 1 reverse), and seats were artificial leather. It did come with a tail gate and 4 tires however. To clean the interior, I'd park it sideways on a hill, get the garden hose, open both door, stand up hill and just spray the inside and let the water and dirt roll out the other door. Take a towel and dry off the dash board, the floor would dry itself in time. I paid $5000 for it brand new and drove it for 12 years until the engine literally just fell apart in the middle of an intersection! I pushed it into a parking lot and sold it to a junk yard, who paid me $100 and they towed it away! At least they got a clear title!
I paid $54,000 for my current 2014 Chevy Duly Diesel 3500 Silverado with Duramax and all that... It has all the bells and whistles, except power mirrors that move in and out and no heated seats. But the mirrors on both sides are heated and defrost ice! I think it's got everything else imaginable, including internet service!
If I had my choice of driving one or the other today? I'd take the $54,000 model! I'm spoiled now! - mkirschNomad IISure they have lower trim levels, fewer options, but good luck finding one!
