Tell the dealer you want the same truck only with a Cummins. You wont regret the decision.
I think he made that decision before he purchased the truck and I don't think buying a diesel over a gas is any guarantee that you will have zero problems.
What I don't understand is why they had to remove the camshaft to determine if there was an issue with the lobes??????
Some posters want to turn every thread into gas vs diesel. So annoying.
They said they wanted to check the lobes for possible flat spots. Since I’m not a mechanic (and don’t play one on tv, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!!) I dont know what that entails. I assume they have to take it out to put a micrometer on it.
I guess you did not understand what I was trying to tell you. A 3500 gas truck will be worthless in 5 years if you try to sell it. No one wants a gasser. Same issue I had trying to sell my 2WD. Everybody has been convinced that 4x4 is the only way to go, even when the 4x2 gets better fuel economy and tows more. Oh well, hope you enjoy your truck once its back home.
This makes me laugh..... why would a gasser be worthless in 5 years, that’s really a poor choice of words to use. My aunt just sold her 2003 Ram 2500 with the Hemi with almost 200k miles on it. Guess what... it sold in just a few days putting it out by the road... so what did she buy? Yep another newer ram 2500hd with the Hemi....and she sold it for a higher dollar amount then I thought. So no I don’t buy into the famous gas trucks are worthless nonsense...
These threads always go in th diesel verse gas debates, it gets old... there’s pros and cons to both. Everyone should just be excited for all just to go camping... the OP got a great truck, some have issues when new and can be fixed. No big deal, the mighty diesel is not the cure all. Yep pulled with both and stuck with gas. I don’t see the need drop comments about what truck they should have bought.., don’t know their finances or what their needs are. That’s their business, bottom line is buy what you want to drive and can live with, most importantly is what you can afford. I don’t care what others have, at 45 years old, I have a desire to retire comfortably one day and not be in debt to nothing....
