The sad thing is that soo many younger mechanics solely rely on their scanners to tell them what's wrong and have never seen the inside of an engine or truly understand how they work.
I still marvel that they removed the camshaft to inspect it. LOL
A "pitted lobe" isn't going to kill a cylinder and and why not just measure the lift at the rocker arm??
I would seriously question the ability of the mechanic working on it.
I feel bad for anyone that has to go thru this kind of aggravation, especially with a brand new vehicle.
