I’m doing what I can to get a new engine. The service team wants it and they have let FCA know that. I have let the customer service/care guy know this as well. He gets two calls a day from me. I have told him that just a new cylinder head is unacceptable. Hopefully this will do some good.
A vehicle with 500 miles on the clock should not have bent valves. With the reliability of today's engines even one with 50,000 or 150,000 really shouldn't have bent valves either.
You didn't buy a new truck just to have the engine torn down and repaired. The takeaway seems to be that some failure slipped through QC during assembly of this engine. Whether that's an inferior part or worker error on the assembly line doesn't matter. The fact remains that for some reason there are bad parts in your engine that created a problem. #1, you should not be a quality control case for FCA and have to wait for your parts to be analyzed to determine where the error occurred.
I'm with you, a new engine really should be the only acceptable solution. When FCA gets the complete engine back they can tear it down and backtrack every part to find who or what went wrong. In fact, they should do this. But, that process should have ZERO impact on you. FCA should get a new, off the assembly line engine to your dealer and swapped into your truck ASAP.
Agree 100%. This gentleman bought a new truck, the truck has a problem right out of the box, this is Ram’s problem and shouldn’t become the OP’s problem! Replace the truck or engine immediately, stop inconvenienceing the customer!
