I’m curious all of you motor heads and motor geeks (and that is said with the utmost respect.)
I’m doing what I can to get a new engine. I’ve told customer care over and over that a new engine is all I’ll accept. No new cylinder head. I told the service dept. if the new head comes in, DO NOT put it on the engine. I haven’t lost my cool or cursed at the agent. All of us have been very professional.
Legitimate question... What would you do if they refused the new engine? I can DEMAND a new engine all I want but if they refuse what can I realistically do? If the only way I get my truck back and on the road is a new head what can I do?
That is despite the hard line some talk about taking that is just not how it works in the real world of warranty repair. Even good dealers just don’t have that type of leverage with the mfg in the old school days. The reality is if you don’t like the outcome you could lawyer up but once you go down that road the only communication you will have with them will be through your lawyer.
Their obligation is to make the vehicle the same as it was new. Just because everyone says long block is the only way to resolve the issue does not make it so. But, personally I also would like the long block.
