You should be looking for the GAWR on the certification label. Tires are fitted to the GAWR NOT the axle rating unless the GAWR and axles have the same load capacity.

Thanks for all the input. Reading postings here about tires seems to be a hot topic. I don't know much about tires, I just know I want plenty of extra room between the weight I'm hauling and what equipment is capable of. That solves most tire problems IMO

I knew that was coming.
I have already checked out a tire shop that sells cheap and old stuff that he gets from car hunk haulers etc and if I give him my Marathons that look new anyways he'll dismount and mount new for free. But he doesn't balance? So I also asked tire dealer that question. They said there is no problem for them to mount tires on rims and balance. Me the customer will drag home and put them on TT. Which was what I was planning anyways as tire place doesn't have very much room, and I don't trust the cheapo tire guy.

Op here...Have not seen TT axles rating with my own eyes yet. But have been told 6,000 axle capacity. And I don't know if that means per axle or each wheel position.

I just know that I should have a spindle diameter of 1-1/4 - 1-3/4 according to manual. Will know for sure when I look at bearing cup part numbers and match up to spec's to make sure of what I have.

And if not 6,000 pound I would have 3,500pd. When I pulled a tire the hub has AL-KO stamped on it. Called dealer and he said Axix Products is AL-KO. I don't know if Axix is cheapo line or good line or what. When I got TT home hub was stamped "AL-KO". But dealer said "Axix Products"

WOW...Just 5 min ago I was looking up Axix and AL-KO make sure before I post this and AL-KO web site says Dexter bought them out in North America.

At any rate I'm pretty sure I have enough axle to support TT.

Good Luck our local large tire dealer refuses to put LT tires on a trailer but the shade tree ones will.

When I upgraded to 16 inch LT tires, I went with the Bridgestone Duravis. Less expensive than the Michelins and, although I only have 5K miles on them, no problems so far. As mentioned above, just be sure you have enough clearance all the way around, including taking suspension travel into account.

Also, I had to adjust my WDH because the LT tires are around 1 inch bigger in diameter, which was just enough to require adjustment on my setup. Yours may not need it but something to check after you put the new wheels on.

As for wheels, I bought Ultra Type 62's from Tirerack. A big benefit of using Tirerack is that mounting and balancing is free if you buy the tires from them; you still have to pay for shipping.

Trailer gross dry weight 6,900(oem numbers) so probably real life (loaded) gross loaded number might be closer to 9,670 (tanks full, 127 gallon in tanks and 1,500 of personal stuff). Tongue weight (oem) is 750.

Trying to leave as much room between my gross weight I'll be carrying and max weight that I should not go over.

Any other choices you would recommend?

I can't seem to a find cheaper tire that many people have had good service with.

The XPS rib is a very stiff summer tire. The LTX M/S2 in the same size and load capacity will provide better handling and give your trailer a smoother ride.
