- Reddog1Explorer IIBased on the photos, what would be gained from a newer TC costing $8000, over this TC for $3000? Is the year of manufacture really that important over quality of the product?
If you buy a new $30,000 TC, use it one month, I bet you would loose more than $3000. Think about a $10,000 TC with a delam issue. $3000 probably would not go far for the repair.
When I bought my 1988 Bigfoot in 2004, I had searched for years and only found $9000 and up Bigfoot TC. None were within 1,000 miles. Finally one showed up for $1000. NADA priced it at $500 is it was exceptionally clean. It had moss on one side and the top, 1/4" to 1/2" thick. No idea if the appliances worked. Unfortunately, NADA had no Bigfoot TCs for sale at any price. I bought the 1988 Bigfoot for $1000 and was glad to have found it. Over a year, I had to install a new fridge coil, replace the water heater and furnace blower motor. Cost about $1000. Over the next two years, I added all of those things I wanted, which included A/C, Solar, Honda, Microwave, Wave3 cat heater, Stable-Lift jack system, etc. About $9000 total including the initial $1000 for the TC. I think it would cost me at least that much to replace it today, and each item was one of my choice, not the manufacturer.
If you like it, it is equipped for your needs, nothing structurally wrong with it, buy it. You are only talking about $1500 more than NADA thinks it is worth.
Keep in mind, NADA does not sell TCs, nor do they buy them. - sue_tExplorerHe owns it and wants to sell it for a specific price. Doesn't matter what the book value is. Doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to sell, so he can wait for a buyer that feels it is worth the same amount he wants to sell for.
Looks clean and well-maintained. - nycsteveExplorerIf I were buying and found this camper to be as described I'de pay 3k. IF everything works and its completly leak free ,past/present. The few pictures shown show a camper well cared for and clean. You could spend 12k on a 2006 that looks ok but has hidden rot. Its relative, and 3k is a relativly low risk price.
- VintageRacerExplorerBlue book or NADA is pretty irrelevant when it comes to an older camper like that. Basically it's worth what two people decide it's worth to them at the time, one guy selling and another guy buying.

If it is as good as he says it is probably worth more than 1500 to the right buyer but IMHO 35 is high for a 22 year old camper. However, it is his camper. If you can't meet on price then keep looking. There are lots more out there
X2 on this post. Also right now is prime time for prices on RVs to go up as it is the beginning of the season and most everyone has the itch to get out and do something.
Good Luck - SpknTCExplorerI think $3K is fair. Make sure everything works. Good Luck!
- 67avionExplorer IICarbondale is a very hot spot for classics. It's a university town with a lot of profs with old campers. I say its a good steal. But, then, I'm from Carbondale.
My experience has been when the guy says it's been kept under wraps and hardly used that you can e relatively assured that is accurate. Of course you need to kick the tires. - Reddog1Explorer IIIt looks reasonable to me. With older TCs, NADA is of questionable value in my opinion. Actually, I see NADA as a tool for dealers. Typically, dealers will only allow you much less than low NADA, but will only sell for more than high NADA.
Think about it, is a 2012 TC with bubbles in the felon, obvious leaks, well used interior worth as much as the TC you are looking at? I bet NADA says it is.
It is about how much you get for your dollar. How it is equipped and its condition should determine its value. If you can find a newer equivalent TC for the same money go for it. - Victory402Explorer3.5 sounds way to high for the year. I picked up a 94 Coachmen in nicer shape for 2.4.
