Yes, check the vent hose as you mentioned above. - MFLNomad III have found that the vent hose will get some water in it, especially when there is a low (sag) area. This will cause a slow fill, with water wanting to back out of fill hole.
To clear vent, you need to blow air into small vent opening, clearing the passageway. It doesn't take much. I use a small piece of plastic hose, held tightly against vent opening, and blow into it. After doing this, the tank should take water at a much faster rate.
Jerry - cleojaycoExplorerwhen we fill the fresh water we can get no more then 1/2 full before water starts coming out no matter how slow we try to fill the tank

Mine too.
And I need to let it "burp" by pulling the hose out when it appears to be getting full and then slow the fill rate a bit. After doing that twice, I'm pretty sure I am getting it full......since some water then comes out the small vent. Having one of the hose extensions that goes a foot or so INTO the fill hole helps too.
In my case, I think I have a loss of usable capacity because of some kind of a problem with the pump intake instead of a lack of a full tank.
I also have this feeling that some splashes out if I fill it full and then drive very far. - LynnmorExplorer

I was always having a hard time holding up my 5-gal jeri can when filling my off-road Popup fresh water tank. Seems like it would take forever to empty the 5-gallons haha... We always like to camp off-grid with no city water hookups.
I finally rigged up a 12VDC water pump for boats from WALMART and now all I do is stick a tube down into the jeri can and it empties into the fresh water tank in a breeze now...

Or you could have added a tee and a check valve and drawn the water in with the current pump, wiring and switch. Nothing to store, simple and cheap. - RoyBExplorer III was always having a hard time holding up my 5-gal jeri can when filling my off-road Popup fresh water tank. A vent pipe usually go up through he roof with a cap on top. But I never seen one for a fresh water tank. - scrubjaysnestExplorerSmall tube from tank to screen at fresh water fill
