Venting the trailer while moving?

X2. They don't get that hot inside anyway.

I keep everything closed, it will cool down when I get to my location. You can speed that up by running the AC if need be. I have never seen a reason to have any window or vent openend when traveling.

Actually, trailers today are quite well insulated. I doubt that it will be unbearable when you stop. If you find it to be a problem you can air it out at a rest stop on the Interstate.

I typically close my roof vent but have forgot and left it open (with Maxx air cover)and I really dont notice much of a temp difference. On one of my last small trips (1.5 hrs) we forgot one of the large side windows open. I didn't notice much difference with the temp inside, and didn't experience much dust, but my trip was short and all pavement...

On our previous hybrid when I forgot the roof vent open, I noticed the layer of cushion floor would have lifted up a little when I opened the trailer up. It was likely an issue with the floor not being glued down correctly but since it only happened with the vent open it was testament that there was some pressure difference in the trailer with it open.

Anyway, for these reasons, we leave ours closed since there are little cooling benefits and avoids any issues...

I think someone should submit this to Mythbusters to find out if leaving vents open really does anything to lower the temperatures inside the TT. Even with the vents closed, by the nature of the air flow over the TT itself while traveling, it should draw some of the heat off the surfaces, thereby reducing temps inside. Similar to what a fan does for a person sitting in a hot room.

Now if there were a way to start up the A/C about an hour prior to getting to the CG, I'd be game for that! I guess you could theoretically do that with a generator....

We have the Maxx air covers and don't think we've every closed the vent since buying the trailer except maybe when stored over winter. Never had an issue with dust inside.

On hot days we've always left the over sink window open and a roof vent open some, under cover or not.
Recommend you put stoppers in your sinks and shower drains to prevent sewer gasses from being pulled in through the traps by the vacuum created with a roof vent open.

I have vent covers over all three of my vent lids and leave the bedroom and bathroom lids open while I'm traveling. Dust has never been an issue for me.
