VERY inexpensive retractable awning

8'2" x 6'6" for $158 shipped!

Anyone know anything about this Frugah company. Got a few good reviews at Amazon.com

Might be a nice awning on the back of the TC?

  • I think awnings generally do fine closed up on the road as long as they stay closed up. Open in a wind storm is a different issue!
  • If mounted on the back over the door, and tied down for road travel, I wonder how it would survive.

When set up a couple of guy lines to the trucks bumper would help with the wind.

The Palomino I have came with a side awning that is simply rolled up by hand. It has two side arms and two legs. With guy lines it withstood some tough winds this past weekend. It's a very simple affair that stores in a zippered bag attached to the side of the camper while traveling. The original owner never opened it up as it needed a few parts t9o be installed to use it. Fortunately the parts were in a bag in the zippered case.

You can see it in this picture:

I'm just looking for something to go over the back door to keep the rain out if it's warm and I want to leave just the screen door in place.
  • It might be a good idea to wait till the generator arrives before ordering anything else.:)
I think you get what you pay for. I question it for that price. As said, i would not trust it in a wind .

Awnings using the horizontal arms have a higher frequency of repair . Most of the broken awnings sitting in the dumpster at the rv repair shop are horizontal types . The vertical arms seem to be a stronger option.
  • For those averse to clicking on the link of the other two posts. The links to one was $127.99.
  • "Easy installation, without drilling and anchors."..........but will it go down the highway at 55/60 MPH??????????? I'd be worried about it.
