water pump

Water pump not working. Is it froze up after very cold winter? I do not see a fuse for it. Will it be hard to replace? Will wiring have a socket or will I need to cut and splice wiring? I have a Ascent Camper by Chalet 2011.

  • I've replaced a couple on my TC. One from being not winterized enough. Any water left in there will freeze/expand and ruin the pump. Mine has slip connectors and a big rubber wrapped clamp that is screwed to the wall. I use a rubber bushing to reduce the noise from vibration.
    It's not difficult to R&R.
As said, access is the woe unless you are young and skinny. Have all your tools and parts ready to go and use a big flashlight to see the connectors. It's kind of like plumbing under the sink except your working in a doll house!

  • Fuse could be in DC Dist Panel OR in-line at the pump

Frozen/broken.....possible if water was left in it (not winterized properly).

Hardest part about replacement is access.
  • There will be a fuse for it.
Check the voltage like TucsonJim said.
Remember, the voltage is switched on and off by the pump switch on your monitor panel or somewhere.

If you can not find the fuse I would contact Chalet... You do need to know where your fuses are located.

  • Typically, they are not hard to replace. You normally have hose clamps to make the plumbing connection and twist connectors for the electrical. It is fused, so make sure you have 12V going to the water pump when the switch is turned on before you spend the money for a replacement.
