Well your truck is about as good as it gets to haul a camper like that. Any mods to take out the squat would be minor

You might want to add air bags and overload spring bumpers. Otherwise you have in excess of 12,000 pounds carrying capacity in rear tires and wheels and the rear axle is at least 9350 pounds rated. Very little camper weight is on the front axle, almost all on the rear.

I have a 2012 with a 990 A/F tow a open trailer with a jeep total 22k loaded no problems you have a way better rig then mine go for it.

If you're not squatting yet with what you have, another 1500lbs isn't going to put you in danger. I would put you at dead level to 1" low in the rear.Even if it's not ideal it won't be so horrible that you can't take a trip or two with it to see how it's going to work out before deciding what you want to add.

I see the 1140 and 1150 are in same wet weight range give or take 100 lbs, accept they are 2' longer which might act like a leaver. Anybody with one a 996 or even a 1140 or 1150 on a new version Ram dually, would love to hear how your stock suspension handled the weight. Worse case all I would really be willing to add is upper blocks (like upper stable loads). This does not give you more weight carrying capacity, it just allows you to carry it a little higher in rear.

so here is what this weight looks like. We picked out the Artic Fox 990 this weekend. This is loaded on a 2015 Ram 3500, Tradesman with a lot of options, 4x4, Aisin, 4:10's, DRW, 14,000lb GVW.
only suspension change is Big Wig sway bar (which i put on 1 year ago)

This picture is full of fresh water, two full propane tanks and Two 27 series AGM's

She is riding level. Drove wonderful on the 8 hour trip home.
the extra foot higher than the Wolf Creek did not seem to affect MPG, but its "down hill" from Truck Camper Warehouse to PA :).

This weekend I will hook up the trailer but I don't expect it to drop much based on the drop when 3 people stand on the fox landing. (my trailer tong weight is not very high).

not sure. I only have weights as posted by truck camper mag.

Dry: 3605 including fox value pack (plus I have dual pane glass and slide topper)

Wet: dry weight, 3,605 pounds + 53 gallons fresh, 442 pounds + 6 gallon full hot water heater, 50 pounds + 2x 30-pound full propane tanks, 54 pounds + 2 batteries, 130 pounds + stuff, 500 pounds = 4,781

I had everything on the "wet" list accept maybe 500 lbs of "stuff". I had all the pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc, but no food coming home.

we ran out of food. We even had to call out for pizza delivery one night and they brought it to the dealers parking lot.

I will be out soon with trailer and BMW so I will try to find a scale.
Or maybe not. if its sitting right without suspension mods, do I really want to know :).

Hey Towpro, Congrats on new TC. Sounds like we were right next to you picking up our 2014 Adventurer 910 DB!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, what happened to the AF 996? We have a 2016 AF 990 and we scaled out at 4,880 loaded with water and ready to go. Pretty close to GM's recommended 4,913 lb. slide-in camper rating. I added Timbrens and my GMC sets slight tail high, I can change that by taking out the 1" spacer and replacing with 1/2" spacer.
Did you add the weight of the Fox Value Pkg.?

Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you. Sorry if we woke you up Sunday AM. It was 8 hours drive home, and the wife really wanted to go to the last Phillies game that afternoon. Had to do it.

No problem. TC warehouse was a busy place this past weekend. More power to you leaving that early. We left around 11:45 am so I could get back to Syracuse, NY to catch The Cowboys game. Leaving our TT at our seasonal site for the winter and heading back to Dallas in the new TC. Happy trails!!

There are no 996's around (only 1 dealer on our side of country)
we really liked the 2016 990 we found. the 2017's cost more. I was quoted around 6 months time to order the 996.
and we are happy.

once we started really using the WC 840 on longer trips it could get a little crowded for even 2 adults.
When we first got the Wolf Creek it was all my 3500 SRW truck needed to carry, but now I have a dually which gave me a whole new range of campers to carry.
As we used it we compared our issues with the design of other campers. We started to like the design of the arctic fox 990/996 floor plan. The slide made the biggest difference to us in room.

we also have a 2011 5th wheel that sits on a private campground my brother and I own. We thought about upgrading that camper but decided its good enough for what it does.
Plus this year we realized we spent almost 4 weeks in the Wolf creek and only a couple weekends in the 5th wheel. So we decided to upgrade our truck camper or as we call it "our escape pod".
We had the money, Truck Camper Warehouse had the 2016 left over 990, we went and looked at it and bought it.

But the Wolf Creek is a great unit. I had no problems with mine related to manufacture (door lock went bad and kitchen sink faucet broke)I would highly recommend one to anybody looking.
