- colochoclabExplorerDoesn't look like a TT engine.
It's still one heck of a wonky picture! - brooks379ExplorerI had TWO people I know buy brand new dodge trucks (Dakota) and NEVER changed the oil. One guy was to dumb to do it or get it done and at about 40,000 miles it locked up on him. He had no oil/filter receipts and Dodge told him to take a hike and they did not fix it.
The other guy bought a new truck and thought he would save a few bucks by adding ...Slick 50... to the oil like the old add's use to say and he never changed it either. Well it too locked up after some 40,000 miles and when he took it (towed) to Dodge they told him that's not oil it's sludge....He eventually did find a dealership to replace it - i5truckerExplorerI routinely go 100,000+ miles in between oil changes in my '09 Cummins ISX, however I have an OPS by-pass filter system. Change your thinking, not your oil.

There was guy on the Ram diesel forum that IIRC ran Amsoil for 24,000 miles in his newer 6.7 CTD. I don't remember if it was once or twice but he ruined the motor. Thick sludge when they tore into it. He misread the Amsoil milage recommendation and missed the part about diesels. Live and learn I guess.
I remember that post (although I thought he had more miles). Was pleasantly surprised that he owned up to the error. My guess is that there are many out there that would expect the manufacture to repair the vehicle under warranty.
Yeah, I know he ran the oil out to it's limits, just couldn't remember how many times he did and how many miles were on the truck. IIRC he didn't have a lot of miles on it. He was pretty calm about the whole thing. - Bionic_ManExplorer

The company I worked for had fairly new vehicles in the fleet. Come to find out they ran the cars with absolutely NO MAINTENANCE at all, including no oil changes.
At three years they replaced the vehicle with a new one.
As I had just the opposite theory (Buy new, Maintain them, and keep them a long time,) I really wonder how cost effective that theory was. - goducks10ExplorerThere was guy on the Ram diesel forum that IIRC ran Amsoil for 24,000 miles in his newer 6.7 CTD. - fj12ryderExplorer IIII wonder what kind of oil he was using, and also if the oil filter was also never changed, and how many actual miles. I just don't believe that just not changing the oil will cause that kind of buildup. There's probably more to this than meets the eye.
The person who posted the photo never gave any details. - maxwell11Explorerguy I knew has a v6 s10 pickup and he never changed the oil, however, he did change the oil filter at around 8k intervals and added back a qt of oil.
a friend of mine bought the truck at 80K and was still driving it the last I heard when he moved.
do not know how long it ran, but that is not my way of caring for a vehicle. - DonnohExplorerThis one of the reasons I don't buy used.
