What is normal for 5.9 water temp?

I getting 145ish on dash temp gauge. I get 135ish with IR temp gun on water pump housing. I think it should be more? Thinking about it, I wonder if T-stat is open all the time would cause this or is my thinking wrong? Fluid is OK. Rad cap is OK.

I'm beginning to think my 2001 dodge 5.9 is falling apart. This happened coming back from trans shop:E

190-200 is about normal. I just put a ew Tstat in this year. Sounds like yours stuck open.
What did the trans shop do? Anything to do with the cooler?

Yes, stock t-stat is 190 degree

Local trans shop... I was afraid they messed something up, so I took it to shop that does a lot of small diesel turbo stuff, they put on their big $$$ scan tool and like my cheapie didn't show anything. Which is good.

Local shop couldn't figure out why "O/D OFF" light in dash was lit up. They never saw a exhaust brake before? So wanted to confirm no problems.

Then coming back home temp gauge around 140 got my attention.

Something is up like the stat is toast. It should be more than that. Anything between 180 and 200 is golden.

$%^%$# I want to cry...$83.00 for new t-stat. Hoping I don't need more than 1 gallon of anti freeze at $17.00 gallon. We'll see

    Thanks for come back
