First know that there are MINIMUM performance specifications mandated
by various Government Agencies of all OEMs who sell vehicles here
that they MUST have tested and certified to meet...
Generally, they meet those specifications and control how their buyers
use them via SPECIFICATIONS and RATINGS
So, first decide if you, the OP, believes in the OEM ratings system
or not
If not, then know that you have taken the OEM(s) off the warranty and
liability hook...to be assumed by yourself or whoever is driving the
setup
If yes, then learn how that system works and that the fine print
modifies the specifications.
Going over any rating won't have the wheels instantly fall off...unless
WAY OVER...they will just fall of sooner than later...
Many do NOT believe stopping is a performance item, but I do and
weight it higher than 'go'...
There are stopping distances vs the OEM's ratings for each vehicle.
Going over their 'max rating' will have it potentially take it
longer distance to stop...
Remember or if you didn't know, that all things designed is not
for the good days out there when a riding lawn mower 'can do it', just
like a half ton 'can' tow the Shuttle...but for the day Mr Murphy
crosses your path...either you have the proper size components/systems
or NOT spot on....there will be no time to go back to the store
for bigger/better...nor time to re-setup...AKA ability to manhandle the situation
PS...only the driver is responsible for the setup...makes no matter
someone else chose and setup...or that the driver has a stack of
printouts from folks telling them 'it is okay'...'you are good for it'...
