- monicarick01ExplorerI did my maiden voyage, see post. But it rolled on the corners to an an uncomfortable angle but rode overall very well compared to my large 5th wheel. I weighed it and the front axle was 5371 pounds and the rear was 8250 for a massive total weight of 13621. this was close to a dry weight, minus the wife and kids and dog and dishes and food and water. My rear axle on the truck decal says max weight of 9000, my dually tires with a max of 3195 per tires says it can handle more. I greatly appreciate all of your input so far.
I checked my springs and lowered the psi in my air bags so the truck was resting on the springs. I think I will price out heavier springs and a sway bar. I still want to pull a boat!!!!

WOW you all get real serious when it comes to your trucks. I am having a hard time finding someone that does that kind of work. Les Schwab tires is about the only one that comes up when I google suspension. What type of shop does all your work for sway bars and bigger shocks and springs?
I'm going to guess that most do the work themselves. Personally I'm not comfortable with somebody else working on my truck.
Also, I just found (Google) a couple spring places in WA:
Carrier Spring Services - Sumas, WA 1-877-746-4772
Gitt's Spring Co. - www.gittspring.com
Everett Leaf Springs
Right Way Spring Co. - Tacoma - devildog1971ExplorerThe best advise I can think of, go to a suspension shop, I tried super springs from a camper sales (they wanted to sell what they stock not what is best) did not fix my problem, the suspension shop owner told me ambulances in his county tried super springs his opinion basicly was they were not a problem solver. he put extra springs on my truck I no longer needed air bags any of the common t/c items sold at their stores. This shop owner fixes tractor trailers everything and most of these people are experts in suspensions and suspension upgrades and fixes. Best thing I ever did for handling and over all performance without other upgrades, in the long run if I had went there first I would have saved a lot of money and had a better safer truck
- BedlamModeratorMuch of this stuff is bolt on. The hardest part is getting old parts off that have rusted in place. Some of us can bribed to help you the rest don't need bribes.

- 2BLAZERSExplorerI was not happy with my truck until I added Super Springs, Hellwig Big Wig sway bar and Rancho 9000xl shocks front &rear. I do have airbags but would skip them next time until after the SuperSprings. I also tow around 8500# enclosed trailer with a full Superhitch 48'' extension and weight distribution system with my camper on....
- GrodymanExplorerI would modify my overload spring pack through a spring shop. I would add a couple of leafs to the overloads and space them to engage at about 1" of squat, eliminating the need to purchase overpriced Torklift Stableloads. With an AF1150, aftermarket products are not sufficient. I found that out with my AF990.
Gman - BedlamModeratorLook through the lock holes of the FastGuns - You should see about half the hole covered before you feel the spring tension on the mechanism.
Make sure your air bags are plumbed on separate circuits. If the connections are teed together, the high CG of a TC will push the air pressure left to right causing sway. This is not an issue with a FW since the weight is centered at the pin.
If you are airing your bags up so the overload springs are not engaging, it will give you a bouncy ride. This is the reason I use the taller bump stops (upper StableLoads) on the top of upper overload spring and wedge (lower StableLoads) on top of the lower overload spring - The springs will engage sooner and less of the weight is supported by the air bag.
I did not find heavier dampening shocks to help sway as much as porpoising and bounce. To cure sway, you need to load up the springs more or get a heavier sway bar. - monicarick01ExplorerI have torklift and fast gun tie downs. I do not believe I get the fast guns tight enough? It seems as though there is a little slack in them once they are closed but I can only tighten them so much before they will not fit into the holes. I never had tie downs before so I am not sure how tight they should be. I did have about 30 psi in the airbags I will decrease that.
