As at the time of my last purchase (2012) i am amazed at how the RV industry rolls, and how little it has evolved.
_to only name three
-still increasing the number of brands, yet offering the same package/options
-all brands offering same quality, and still reliance on dealers to catch defects
-no evolution in construction methods, no evolution in floor-plans, just no evolution.
I could not agree more, especially with #3 !
Camp Lite tried a break away with aluminum floors. They dropped them (except on their toy hauler models) ostensibly because they were cold, but I bet cost had more to do with it.
I am glad to see more manufacturers going to a "barrel" roof so there is less chance of puddling and leaks. The basic rubber (EPDM ?) roof is good, but any penetration is an opportunity for a leak. And 1/4" plywood/luan for roof decking ? Come on !
I have never owned one, but my gut says that eggshell campers are going to have a MUCH LONGER trouble free life, but only Oliver has anything over 20'. And the COST !!
The fact that every high end TT, 5er or motorhome I saw at the last show I was at had a residential refrigerator, just says that people have no faith in the RV industry choices in refrigeration.
And why haven't any RV manufactures started using mini-split heat pumps ? Probably because to mini-split manufacturer would warranty them.
Yes, the last 2 suggestion take more electricity, but what percentage of buyers actually boondock ? A couple of lead acid batteries, a decent inverter and a solar panel will cover the 'fridge.
