For me it is 90 percent about performance. Looks and comfort certainly factor into the equation as does my past experience with various brands but performance is number one.
If I could get a solid front axle in a GM truck with a Ford interior I would pay double the price. Having said that, I have not ridden in, driven or even investigated a Ram at a dealership in 10 years. I am sure I would want a few of the Rams bells and whistles if I looked at one. :)
I must be missing something. If you like the Ford interior and suspension and put 90% on performance why are you wanting a GM? The Ford was over a mile ahead of the competition by the top of the Davis dam run and now might even have the best exhaust brake.
I test drove a new Ram and was very impressed but, then I got back in my Ford and was even more impressed with it. One of the worst things about the Ford, in my opinion, is that it hops and jumps something terrible when turning a tight circle in 4x4 on dry roads. Ram has come a long long way from the tractor engine bolted between a couple steel rails that they had 14 years ago to being neck and neck or maybe even leading the competition now.
I really like the fit and finish of the GM trucks- imo they are just a little bit better than the others. Also, I really like the brakes on the GM trucks.
The Ford has a great front end and is just a better design for hard work- imo! The GM rides better but is weaker- imo. I love the Ford interior and their mirrors are top notch- for me.
I dislike the hips on the Ford and even more so on the Ram.
Can't speak to the Ram driving experience or interior- I have no experience with either. I am sure the Ram is fabulous because it has to compete with very solid competition and there are plenty of Ram's on the road. - 4x4ordExplorer III

If you actually test drive a new RAM be prepared to take it home!
I did and did. - fly-boyExplorerSeveral judges with varying opinions leads me to believe this is a fairly honest and accurate account of how most people would feel. I agree with almost everything these guys said-

The writers and editors obviously wear GM and Ram underwear. I picked my F350 Dually after driving a Ram 3500 dually and a Chevy 3500 dually. The Ford had the best cabin and ride.

Agree, I did EXACTLY the same, test drove a Chevy 3500 dually an F350 Dually and came away with the Ram, I personally thought it was the best looking, inside and out of the 3...so I guess it's purely subjective..
....and if the Ford would have been picked, you'd never made the above statement about the editors.....appears that the "writers and editors" hadn't worn Ram underwear since these test begin some 10 yrs plus ago...so maybe a change of underwear was ok just this once, huh:) - TXicemanExplorer IIThe writers and editors obviously wear GM and Ram underwear. I purchased a 2015 F350 Dually a week ago to replace a Silverado 2500...long story. I will say, this is the very first Ford I have ever owned and with a truck this size, one cannot whine about ride quality, oh, and I am quite pleased with it so far. It is a truck!! I can only imagine that if they softened up the ride to make it "comfortable", then people would be complaining that airbags are a necessity because the suspension is bottoming out...cannot please everyone.

The video mentioned hydraulic cab mounts. How would adding those make the suspension bottom out? Also, Fords are already notorious for sagging more under a load so it appears it's as soft as it will get without suspension design changes. Trucks "that size" need not ride like a lumber wagon. - calewjohnsonExplorerI purchased a 2015 F350 Dually a week ago to replace a Silverado 2500...long story. Cale - 4x4ordExplorer IIIWe have a 2010 GMC. I think the new style GM uses mirrors almost identicle to the 2010. They seem quite cheep compared to the Ford but they are adequate.
