What to do with telephone wall plug?

Not being familar with your TT, I can't offer direct info but I have found that there is usually something real close to tap off a 12VDC outlet. Frige, stove vent, light etc. Look around the area.

Of course there are all the usual disclaimers including wire size, cleaning the battery grounds, fuses, you know all those things you would never in a million years think of on your own.(sarcasm)

We have a phone hookup in our 5'er and we DO use it. We camp host at a state park that has a landline phone. It is amazing how many "regular" campers will call to see if "their" site is available for the weekend. The park staff also use it when booking programs, etc.

I myself have been in the telecom business for over 23 years and "if" the wires are the standard w/b b/w 24awg that is used in cat 3 - cat5 cables than you can twist them together and use them as wire as long as you fuse them for safety. If they are the red/green crappy wires you get with the cheaper dollar store jacks then I wouldn't. Heck, I used to use cat 3 cable twisted up to connect my 12 volt power supply to my CB radio years ago. Keep in mind that ma bell uses or since the advent of fiber and coax used negative 24 volts DC to provide dialtone to your 2500 sets way back when. In a pinch with the right rated fuse it will work.

I used mine for my remote control for a TARHEEL ham radio remote. Needed four wires haha..

The only place I ever saw a camp ground with telephone line service was at LAKEWOOD at Myrtle Beach I think it was. You had to go to the office to have them hook up their end for a daily fee of course...

Just thinking as I type - They wire these trailers before the walls go on and I just think they may not be loose enough to pull through the wall. If it goes down to underneath the trailer, I'd say chances are good. Going up chances are not so good.

Inside of wall where connections are on outside of trailer cabin is a cabinet. Could get to back side of skin there. On another trailer, I used 4 plex blank electric wall covers to hide access to inner wall, might have to do that here.

Creates another question, is the 12 volt plug on the booster of a TV fused and through the 12 volt panel? Don't know why it wouldn't be. Don't remember if I have ever run on to that before. Another thing to put on the "to do" list. Label all the 12 volt circuits at the fuse box.

and when you pull the new wire,, make sure you pull 2, one for ground and one for hot.

Very good choice Ryan.
Disconnect the cover- then remove the phone connection. Now take that phone wire and securely attach it to the new wire you want. Go outside and start pulling the wire thru the wall of the RV. Once the new wire appears you now have a new wire for your 12 volt needs.
Oh, make sure the new wire can handle the current load you want.

Take a look at the wire suppliied for power to the satellite dish. And/or, check the current requirements. If you do use it, MAKE SURE THAT YOU MARK IT!!!

Can you use the existing wire as a pull wire? Then you could replace it to whatever you need.

Having worked for the phone company for over 34 years, 12 volts can be run on the wire. BUT I recommend that you don't do it. Just my humble opinion.
