That engine bay looks very nice!
I keep a somewhat clean engine bay on all of our vehicles, but the only one I really, really clean is this one....
Wow! with that under the hood of her Raptor, your wife's home to Safeway time must be under 6 seconds flat. Of course you live in Montana so it might be quite a few miles to the grocery store.
ArizAl
Nope, not the Raptor. That is the 662 HP Trinity 5.8L modular motor......Ford only uses it in one sub model of the Mustang, the Shelby GT500. - cdlaineExplorerWow WNJJ !!! that is a low mileage ride...
The next owner is going to be very happy. Hope you're
enjoying your truck.
... I saw an ad on TV the other night... the vehicle was
advertising an on-board "air-freshener"... while my bride
would/might appreciate that feature...I got to say , I think
we have reached end times... couldn't you just
roll down the window ?

Very low mileage... last check 85K. I think if you stay under
10k per year you probably should be considered low mileage...
but most of mine is under tow load.
The combo of the Allison/4.1 rear/tow haul and the 8.1
makes for a good combo for the AF tow. I drive like a nun...
I'm that guy everyone passes on the freeway... 55 works
for me. Out here in the desert I'm glad I got the tranny temp
gauge (OEM) .... reassuring.

Low miles? I've got 26k on my '05 8.1/4.10 3500. So little that I actually try to drive it just to keep it lubed. Just try not to think about how many thousands of dollars it would take to rack up the miles. It makes the purchase price seem cheap. - TerryallanExplorer IIShoot. My 150 is 10 years old, and looks like new. Haven't seen anything I like better from ANY of the truck makers. Take care of your stuff. It will last a long time.
- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerCongrats ! nice ride , just about 200,000 on my small block chevy 5.3 and still runs like new . Have 250,000 on my 99 venture van, and still runs and looks new. Good luck on the next 10 years!
- cdlaineExplorerGlad to see some agreement on the quality of this engine.
I really need to give a tip of the cap to Local 598 Flint , MI.
I didn't really mess with OEM... no chips, no tuners, no exhaust
manipulations... I did pull the bump stops when I went with
air bags, added some aftermarket side steps, and removed the
factory stickering (something like Z 78 or such...).
A plain white truck.
Unlike some ...I am not an independently wealthy land-baron...so my
cost cutters were cloth instead of leather...I did spring for the
powered towing mirrors... passengers side motor has become anemic,
so I have to give it an assist to extend/retract. I could use some
new headlamps as I am unable to garage the truck and Az. sun is not
headlamp friendly.
All in all ..a good ride...looking forward to 10 more years.

(my bride put the squirrely decal on the truck (when I wasn't looking !). - arizalExplorer

Heck with them kinda miles you'll easily get another 10 yrs. That engine will finally be broken in....hopefully the rest of truck holds together.
The ONLY thing I miss about the oldie days is being able to wrench on engine without being a computer geek :B
Keep it shined up.....looks GREAT - monkey44Nomad IIHave said it before - my '03 GMC 6.0L still runs like the day it was born, fires up in a hot second. A great 206,000 miles - most of it hauling my TC, or my TC and trailer.
Like said above - most repairs have been 'wear items' ... and total of just a snitch under 11 mpg according to my dash reader. - LessmoreExplorer II

Ah, the 8.1L/4.10/Allison combo...the gasser to which even the diesel guys tip their hat!
Congrats & enjoy the next 10 years with it
I agree.
When you think about it, the big block gas Chevy V8 (big Rat motor as it's fondly called by many) has been around in production since 1965. It descended from the Mystery motor at the Daytona 500 back in 1963.
Versions have been used successfully in everything from high performance Corvettes, muscle cars, big RWD Chevies, medium duty trucks, pickups school buses, powerful inboard boats, Motor Homes, industrial motors, racing cars in drag, sports car, etc.
It truly is a versatile engine.
