I won't speak to a specific TT as there are so many and I wouldn't know their weights.

But as to cold weather, I sometimes think the cold weather packages are a water for anyone not using it in sustained sub zero temps.

For example, my trailer is old and poorly insulated. I still have no issues during the winter where I'm camping in temps that are at or below freezing for 7 days. The only difference is how often I need to charge the battery due to the furnace fan being on more often. But it's always comfy. And during that 7 days, I'm only in it from about 7pm to 5am. The rest of the time it sits with the furnace turned off. Never had any freezing issues. This may vary from trailer to trailer, but mine is a 1987 model with paper thin windows and no under carriage insulation

I was in your situation for the last year. Looking for something light yet something I could take off road and still hunt with in the fall/early winter. Ended up with a StarCraft AR-One with the Extreme package. Just picked it up in the spring so have yet to experience cold weather but that will be tested here in a few months.

I will say that the furnace heats the trailer up quite quickly as my wife made me turn it on when we took a few of the grandbabies camping a month or so ago. The night time temps only got into the 40's or so and she didn't want the little ones getting cold.

StarCraft has a few different floor plans, including hybrids, for the AR-One line. We went with the 18QB as we really wanted a bed that you can get in and out of without having to crawl over each other. Dry weight is about 3200 lbs but it does have small tanks. Plenty of storage for our needs. I could do without the microwave and A/C myself as I bought it for dry camping.

Look up the Extreme package on the StarCraft. What really attracted me was the flipped axle and the existing insulation is wrapped in one of those "space blankets". Oh, along with the sealed underbelly. The tanks are not heated nor inside the trailer but they are sealed by the underbelly.

Come hunting time I won't have any water in the fresh water tank. I'll already have the trailer winterized. I will have a few water jugs for use and keep a milk jug filled with water next to the toilet. Keep in mind that temps here in CO can stay below freezing come the fall in higher elevations where we tend to hunt.

Sorry for the long reply. I plan on doing a review after hunting is over, which will be sometime in Dec/Jan as I've got late season antelope and elk tags.

I've done down to 15*F in my hybrid with only the rear tent bed open. No PUG's or other fancy stuff, and woke up to temp around 69* inside. Furnace ran about 5 min on, 5 min off all nite

Not looking to camp with snow coming down or such, just enough to get through nights that drop below the freezing point. Is that still very difficult to heat?

It's not cheap and you would have to go with the portable toilet option but Moby XTR is made for off-road camping and designed to be light enough to two behind a Jeep. If you are going off-road or gravel you need to consider that in camper design. Hills mean you can't push the full 3,500 lb tow limit. Last go to the tow forum to understand how gross weight can bite you before the weight of the trailer.

an RPod will weigh what you want but the small ones had no hangup closet, virtually no overhead cabinets, and a tiny sink in a wet bath. I bought an Ascend a17RD instead, right at 3500 lbs.

About the best you can do off the shelf is to get something like that Forest River R-pod or a Bigfoot and burn a lot of fuel. You'll also need a generator/solar to keep the 12V system functioning. Typical RV forced air furnaces are terrible power hogs.

Our HTT listed below tips the scles at 3,490 loaded and ready to camp. We are a family of six. Being pretty much year round campers we are not fans of the tent ends as they must be set up at home to dry out. Also noisey neighbors can not really be blocked out. Looking is half the fun. Take time and read archives on a specific model and brand to see what problems folks have and hhow the company responded. This is huge. If you buy used insist all be hooked up aand working for your inspection prior to paper work. Welcome to the forum
